Easy to get the wrong one. There were plenty of them!

I think it'll be time soon to move away from the SSW hype and focus on the here and now, if you ask me.

You've got bitter cold in Canada stoking a roaring jet exiting Canada, which in turn helps maintain the 'blocking' high pressure in the east Atlantic, which in turn sends all the major cold shots down the Eastern Extremities of Europe...  I would be glad to eat my words in 2 weeks time don't get me wrong.

I say all this, we've got very much standard fare winter weather on the cards which can bring with it its own goodies, albeit a high snow melt rate during the day with +5 to +6. Its better than we've had thats for sure but not a major event...

If she had not said snow, I would have scratched my head thinking is that fog, cloud or snow

For anyone who doesn't realise the level of bonkers that exists on this site, have a quick look in the Meto 16-30 day outlook pages. The over reaction is something else. I mean really????? I have never seen such utter tosh.

Experts one and all. Not.

Not as warm as forecast so far today, currently showing 7.2c on my station at home.

8c down here in town, overcast with the occasional brighter moment. Pic taken on my lunchtime walk.

No - you are in just about the best location possible, i would say minimum a good few inches of snow, maximum - upwards of 10 inches.

Would Kent do alright out of that

Southern Britain buried in snow or am I getting a head of myself.

A Bromleyite myself, do you see Thames Streamers setting up in that scenario, or something else giving us lots of snow?

Yes, you can't always tell exactly but Kent would have a higher percentage chance with that exact chart of getting a dumping than any other county.

ECM day 9 - amazing

Borrowed from mod thread - if only this was this Thursday! Today’s models seem to have trended towards an easterly which is generally much better for our corner than a north or NW’ly but such a long way out...

Doesn't mean anything at that range (192 onwards)...as a senior poster just mentioned the ecm is the opposite to the gfs and tends to go 'overboard' with blocking and easterlies at a certain range but then went onto say that with the SSW signal a possibility of a greater chance of a similar type scenario occurring and a northerly blocked snow event before the month is out.

Lovely ECM, especially for our region.

Would love it if this counted down serenely to T24 but it could always upgrade I suppose!
