I’ve been keeping my on Iceland, they have had a very poor start to their season so it’s brilliant to see that snow and money will be returning back to Lapland.

It would be lovely to have a cold run up to Christmas, I have 98% of my kids presents  so if we did get a dumping of snow they hopefully wot be disappointed. I believe that this time year it had turned cold and we had a few days of wet snow. I was looking through my photos and had taken a picture of all the snow packed on the window. I also remember it being this time last year because my children’s carol concert was cancelled due to the snow.

I'd buy a sledge tomorrow while stocks last to avoid disappointment

Yes it did snow in some places last December Donna, think it was north of the M4 corridor that had most of it though, if I remember right.

It was wet slush around here but was white for a while, I mean it did settle.

Oh yer, the two Bests from the East were pretty late but also exceptional, as in the air was very cold so that's why they produced the goods, as in lots of snow. It's pretty obvious though, the Winter Equinox is 21st of December, so thats the shortest day of the year, as the days get longer again you start to notice it more in late Feb and into March with more daylight. So the longer days with sunshine will melt the snow thats on the ground at a faster rate then it would have done when the days were very short, ie December and January. But it can certainly snow in Feb, March and April too, sometimes this is when we get the best snowfall its just that it won't hang around very long even if the air is very cold away from the shade.

And what made late Feb/early March exceptional were the very low dew points.

They have often been the undoing of a good snowy spell in the SE.

A Beautifully clear, crisp start in Hastings. the temperature is around 3C atm, With barely a cloud to be seen.

I'm really, really, really hoping for a severe, cold, and more importantly, a snowy Christmas run-up.

It is 8:15 am and it is lovely crisp morning with light frost. The sky is clear but there is a haze in the horizon of the sky.  The temperature is 3° C but feels more like  1° C. I am still waiting for the sun to appear. There is frost on the roofs and the cars but very little on the lawns.

The sun has now appeared. It is very sunny now but still quite cold. This morning's light frost is the first frost of the meteorological winter.

Hubs is telling me to stop stressing. Why? Am having the age old dilemma of ' has the tree got enough lights? .We got a smaller tree, 5ft, so it says 200 lights is enough but not sure. Hubs then says 'wait till you have everything else on' Que major moan that it will be more difficult to put more lights on after. Now i'm looking at it i think 200 is enough. stay tuned. I still need to go into the loft.

clear and icy this morning. That low sun makes crossing the road a right pig. Now clouding over but still 5c. I can wear my new boots at last.
