Temperature up a little to 2c, DP stuck at 1.4c.  Light rain still at 110m asl.

It's potentially one of those many nights where hope is trumped by reality.  Bit like my teenage years (last spotted 1984!)

:help:Met office now showing sleet and snow widely in the SE from 21.00-24.00, best place, around Sevenoaks which shows heavy snow (not sleet). Even places like Woolwich in SE London showing heavy sleet.:yahoo:

Yeah just seen that .Biggin Hill has heavy snow 9-12.Could be a covering up there.

Yup, Biggin Hill could likely be the Honey Pot.

1.4c and sleet coming down, black dog just went out and came back in with white bits. Scientific.

Temperatures on the car gauge started at 5 degrees this morning, down to 3 degrees for the journey home from Uxbridge to Surbiton, now 4 degrees in Chessington. And raining. Fingers crossed for those in favoured locations so we can record a nice early start to the 2018-19 winter.

Hi Lauren. It's Albareto, an area famous for porcini mushrooms, not far from Parma so the food is pretty good, Parma hams, Parmigiano cheese all from that area. People generally go mad about the mushrooms though around there, when they are growing they come from all over the place for the mushroom hunt and there are often traffic jams up the mountain roads and tracks. Local mushroom festivals in the early autumn are worth visiting so you get to try out all the local recipes and the old vino of course.

Have never seen snow on porcini before and I’ve picked in Central Europe and UK. Delicious mushroom!

You are right about the persistence of the rain, the roads in the area that are prone to major puddles/minor flooding are all covered leaving to some impressive curling wave action off car tyres during rush hour, although hopefully no soaked pedestrians.

Light rain still in Reigate.  I guess from the posts coming in that at the top of the Downs at c230m it might be sleety.  Fun to see but actually pretty miserable to be out in.
