I thought that we were discussing climate.

Climate is not one summer in one country..

It is 30 years at least. Some would say even longer.

How about mentioning the record early low temperatures in both the Siberia and North of North America?

Or does that simply a weather situation?.

Then again...How about you mention them yourself, if you deem them important enough?

Presenting data to go with your assertions is also acceptable, on here...?:oldgood:

here is an example for a little bit of balance

Experts say the extreme dips in temperature could be a symptom of climate change.

but as with everything whether its extreme cold or heat its down to climate change..so its a win win

But there's some pretty sound scientific thinking around that reasoning, are you actually interested in that, or are you looking simply to win some sort of flame war?

If that's the way you want to read it, then it's up to you. The fact is, you're not posting opinions - you're just trying to spin against someone elses opinions and/or the evidence they're posting up. So, if you want to post an opinion do it. Since this is a thread about the IPCC report, please feel free to share your views of what you've read in it?

Plus the fact is that I'm asking a reasonable question - are you interested in the climate science and the information it can provide you, or not?

so other people are allowed to have an opinion but if i have opinion that doesn't fit the narrative then its spin? Well OK.

Okie dokie. Again you're spinning things which clearly aren't factual.

Someone posts about 400 temperature records across the northern hemisphere being broken this summer. Your response, with the insinuation that it's evidence of the opposite is an article that Alberta was very cold for a time last winter. At the same time, you suggest it's a 'win, win' for those pushing the climate narrative because that too was blamed (in the article) on climate change. See the disparity?

It's not about your narrative not fitting, it's about the fact that as someone who clearly doesn't buy into the overwhelming evidence provided by science right now, for whatever reason, then you have to at least back your opinion up with some reasonable, science based evidence. That doesn't mean a random article about a cold spell, that means actual scientific evidence.

Anyway, if you have any interest in the theories around the jet stream, polar vortex etc as the Arctic warms, then have a read of this:

Well Mark...By disrupting the 'greenest' part of the capital's public transport-network, they'll be alienating the very folks from who they want support? Idiots!:oldangry:

A consensus is usually established when one explanation is more convincing than alternative accounts, convincing the majority. This is also true in science...

These people have little or no history of climate research and many have links to "think tanks" that are committed to denying the effects of AGW. They are going to start lobbying both the UN and the EU.

I'm not sure how the video above says anything about the protests not being peaceful. It was the protester that got dragged down and beaten!

Anyway, yeah, stupid move targeting public transport like that. I get that they want attention and headlines, but there are better ways to achieve that.

Yes they will do.  However the issue with Rebellion is that the group consists of other smaller groups who could well be acting on their own.  They somehow  have to act all as one  because im sure that some members would not have targeted the underground system    The irony is  that once this form of transport was out of action  other forms would have had to have been used    ie Bus, Cars etc   which as we know is much worse.

Anyway, that 'protest' was NOT peaceful in any way, its illegal for starters and if 'they' think its ok to severely disrupt ordinary people lives, stop them from getting to work/hospital app/job interviews/school run etc etc etc then well, what a mistake!

I don't think any positives can be taken from these sort of actions, in fact all they have achieved, is to extinguish public support and totally ruin their message.

Every protest causes disruption. Disruption can be peaceful. Arguing the legality of it is a different matter. Saying that, civil disobedience has shown time and time again to be a very effective tool for spurring social change. Illegal ≠ violent or immoral.

I think you will find climbing onto an underground train especially in those circumstances IS illegal

The protest we are talking about today was not peaceful.

I don't think peeing off the civil population(as in this case) is a very effective tool.

The true message is lost and unfortunately it becomes a them v us scenario.

Watched the vid earlier and the waster on top of the tube train kicked out first, so when dragged off was given a slap or two. I mean, who decides to go to the East end of London (home of the Hammers) to hack off locals trying to get to work? Should've chosen Kensington tube or similar; probably would've had an easier ride, so to speak

Anyway if plod were doing their job a lot of the disruption the last week or so wouldnt have escalated. Our very own plod here in Bristol actually assisted the climate crew setting up their pink boat road block the other month, before Bristol's week of disruption - i am not making this up.

Nobody has done more to sink the claim that climate change is endangering polar bears than zoologist Susan Crockford — and she may have paid for it with her job.

Seems polar bears seem to be doing ok in a warming climate..but that didn't sit well with some?
