Any word from Brett Adair?

Michael now apparently the 3rd strongest to make US landfall, anyone know the 2 that were stronger?

Labour Day 1935, Camille 1969, though Andrew had stronger winds

Once the eyewall warms convection will decrease in intensity and it will become more of a big blob.

Just home from work and catching up.  Unbelievable how powerful Michael became before coming ashore, with early indications showing as the third most powerful storm to make US landfall.  Some incredible footage on the ABC live feed, particularly from around 7.00pm (you can drag the timeline back) when the roof came off the hotel they were filming from.  Sobering stuff!

Some of the live footage is incredible, to think that Micheal has formed so quickly, this wind map from HNC shows the extent of Michael's impact out as far as Cornwall in the UK, thats a bloody long way..

They had just been through the eye-wall of a near category 5 hurricane - I think they did a pretty good job all things considered.

Josh Morgerman on twitter proclaiming Michael to be one of the nastiest and scariest hurricanes he's been in, bare in mind that this guy has experienced probably every single notable hurricane of the last decade or 2 and even travelled to the Philippines to intercept Mangkut last month

Can't wait for the media and met office hype on that one. Media will off course see two ex hurricanes add them together to make Armageddon seem tame.

Leslie appears to just be going around in circles, She has been a hurricane twice so far, NHC themselves don't seem to have a clue where she is going, so I guess the media can do what they like with it.

Hurricane Michael has downgraded to a Category 3 hurricane. It'll be the strongest hurricane to touch Georgia since the 1800s. Extreme Wind Warning issued for Donalsonville GA, Ashford AL and Malone FL.
