Warning for wind but not for rain. Dead quiet here wind wise very heavy rain at times causing flooding. Warning system not fit for the purpose.

Wind picking up a bit here but nothing significant at the moment and no rain so far with the exception of a brief shower.

Bronagh meant to bring strongest winds from 11pm - 6am. Bit too early to see the wind picking up right now.

Not according to forecasts. According to them, it should be gusting in to the 40's, but it's actually barely touching 30mph. Not to mention the lulls in between

My wind recordings almost always match the Met Office' forecast winds. A long way off at the moment.

It was actually worse yesterday..

Pretty gusty here in Essex, I guess it's Just down to your location and wind direction.

Define torrential wind gusts. And do you have any wind recordings to show, or are you just going by a few branches swaying about?

according to meteocentre a gust of 81kmh has been recorded in the south east that's about 50mph,strangely its also an inland station maybe a shower went through? most around 71-75 kmh

Most of the heaviest rain is where the warning isn't?????

The yellow warning will be about impacts, so the Met Office issue them in conjunction with the Env agency who know about river, ground and coastal conditions/tides etc. there may still be differences in actual and forecast rain but the warning areas are about more than what falls from the skies

Yeah, you could be right about the shower. A shower has just cropped up here and the wind gust increased to 35mph. Still nowhere near the 40's that were forecast for the past few hours.  I'll look forward to when the rain arrives, hopefully that'll be a bit more promising. :)

Unfortunately the impact consideration is totally inconsistent. We had warning for wind for Helena where a few leaves rustled none yesterday when trees got brought down and today no warning for heavy rain yet we have now cranked up 50.6mm in a few hours with flooding in parts of Sheffield and this band stretches across into east Yorkshire. So the impact certainly doesn't seem make a lot of sense. The system needs a good rethink.

Radar shows another Heavy pulse coming if it makes this way and into east Yorkshire could be record breaking rainfall event.

Could someone start a thread where all these pointless and repetitive complaints about the warning systems could go? Some of us are in here for actual updates on what's happening, not what was said might happen and how that pans out for 14 High Street, Myback, Yardshire.

No winds here but persistent torrential rain from 2pm... already a flood warning for Cheshire I expect a few more to crop up before the nights out.

It has been horrendous here. Not known a day as wet as this in a fair old while.

Yes it did, I got caught under it. Luckily it didn’t last long so didn’t get that wet. Wind seems to have increased again now after briefly dropping.

Just about to get on the ferry at Le Havre for the overnight to Portsmouth! Will be sailing right through it! I'll try and give updates if I'm not throwing up too much! Wish me luck!
