FZFG=Freezing fog

The rest is times etc etc etc etc

The River Dee using all it's force to stop Thursday's low, can almost touch it from there.

Had a soul cleansing play in the snow today with the kids and now feel content and at peace. Just enough snow to go sledging and build a snowman.

It's frustrating because if that front had no cold air to bump into it would be Happy to drop rain on us ha ha

Well looking at pics it would seem south Mancs and parts of Merseyside/Lancs hit the jackpot. My brother in Sale got hammered looking at the pics he put on facebook. Think we got about 5cm here so not a huge amount. For north eastern parts of Greater Manchester an easterly is definitely better for us. Just a shame they are rare as hen's teeth and happen more often in late Winter or Spring. Wait wait wait.

Found some images of the winter of 1940

photos took on the main route from Horwich to Bolton ( top of Chorley old road) near scout road. About 5 mins drive from my house. About 900 feet above sea level

Edit

first photo is on the road from Bolton to westhoughton.
