It seems more like Rochdale. Hard to tell as the outer parts of the shower sometimes flourish later and the main core dies.

Hopefully it fills out  bit but keeps its intensity *clutching at straws.

No that’s the one I was talking about.

the most easterly of the showers was right above Bacup so about 7 miles north of Rochdale.

it wouldn’t take much of a change in direction to put Greater Manchester in the firing line and take the Rossendale Valley out of it.

That looks on target for us, but every time showers have got anywhere near us since the main band left, they have either fizzled out completely or been very light.

Those showers over northern ireland are having no problem crossing the land and heading our way.

It seems to happen pretty well every year in much the same way that the north Midlands are often the northern limit of hot weather in summer

Clear skies at the moment with the odd little fluff of cloud

At this current time, it doesn't look like you'll be getting any yet.. but Chris might do, in Crosby, in about 20-30 minutes

That line of showers is bending to the north towards Rochdale etc

In between Rochdale and Oldham I’d say Milnrow 🙃

To those watching the radar - I doubt we’re going to see any serious convection until after midnight.

Both Euro4 and GFS have it largely dry until about 3am. Then by 6am a band of snow showers developing across the south of the region.

Charts from GFS op, GFS para and EURO 4, 6am

It’s looking good. If it stays completely dry then it will be a big fail for these two big models. It’ll certainly be cold enough for snow away from the immediate coast.

Euro4 snow accumulation also looks very good for the south of the region. Again note that no lying snow is forecast in Manchester before 3am.

We will see, but nobody in the south of the region should be giving up hope before bedtime. 🙂

The signal for snow is relatively strong. A cold westerly with a light wind flow is usually a very reliable snow maker for Greater Manchester, but it’s never guaranteed.

Massive blobs moving into Western Scotland (Where I am) Ireland and N.I.

How do you ladies and gents have nothing currently? Always amazes me that North West England does not fare well in a setup that really you would think...should deliver the goods!

Anyways onwards and upwards - hope you all join in the fun over the next couple/few hours.

Have a good one folks! ☃️❄️
