Just turned to snow - Manchester City Centre. Will probably revert back to sleet/rain if the precipitation loses its intensity, it's that sort of day.

I'm not sure why anyone's surprised by rain/sleet today - this was always going to be the case for most, the colder air isn't due until later. Fingers crossed for Irish Sea showers when it's properly cold - these still look likely for some.

Got to say this front could definately produce for those further southwards and eastwards in the region especially with the increasing reports of the PPN turning wintry and actual snow falling for some areas like Manchester.

Heavy snow here for the past 2 hours but none sticking until now. Temp has dropped half a degree and cars, pavements and roofs turning white. Still a few hours of this to go too by the looks of things. Anyone north or east of here above 150m should soon be getting the same.

Cold waves hitting Europe continue to threaten growers, is there a link to climate change?

Much of Europe, not just the UK, has experienced unseasonably cold weather since the Easter Weekend. A plunge of cold arctic air brought by northerly winds early last week brought several nights of frost and even snow across large swathes of Europe, followed by another wave of cold arctic air spreads across much of Europe this week. The frosts causing damage to new growth in vineyards and orchardsa0spurred on by a late March heatwave, the vineyards of France werea0particularly badly affected.
