North West Regional thread 01/09/18 Onwards......

Recommended Posts

I don't want to say I told you so but........

I would not expect much from the Tuesday event either.

This does happen every year, so many members on the forum get far too carried away.

And to be honest I couldn't care much about easterlies anyway, they don't really affect our region that significantly and you end up watching other people getting caked in snow when we casually get nothing.

Polar north westerly set ups (akin to said Tuesdays event) are by far the best for our region!

Barmada.

Don't know were to start with this post.

the most annoying start to your post "I don't want to say" a classic when it goes belly up

Tuesday event can only be judged after the event surely

Members getting carried away its a weather Forum you can only comment on what the models are showing you surely.

Easterlies don't really affect our region?? Think back to last Year.

I do get a feeling your post may be more of a IMBY Post

On a brighter note (No why bother....)

Well the road from Coniston to Ambleside was shut for a while yesterday and we've still got snow at valley level but Ambleside has nowt.

@cheshire snow to be fair the BFTE was a let down snow wise in the south and west of Cumbria mainly due to rain shadow effects. Clearly seen on the radar, it was truthfully but no but a sprinkle of snow...

The ECM looks  a bit better for midweek. After Tuesday's snow showers the wind turns temporarily northerly on Wednesday which should limit the maritime influence which normally causes melting. It still looks a short cold spell but slightly better than the earlier run.

It was closed due to an accident 😞

Not due to snow.

This 100%   I wouldnt complain with a nice bitter easterly, but a 2010 northerly is the holy grail for me.   I expect to never see anything like that again, but will forever live in hope.

Even that only delivered a couple of inches of snow here (maybe less?) but the depth of cold, the ice in the ribble, what an event that was.

Shows you doesnt it, that was an epic once in a generation event and still only just enough snow to cover the laces on your boots.  Plus my father in law thought that was the most snow he had ever seen in Preston, he is 85.  (I have said this on here before and it may be that he is forgetting an event or two, but the broad point still stands)

I think i am rightin saying 63 and 47 didnt deliver much in the way of snow for west coast of our region.

Dont get be wrong Im not winging about 2010, I loved it.

Don't think 63 brought much snow , bitter cold yes ,47 brought a metre of lying snow to the furness peninsula  with drifts up to first floor windows
