Yesterday’s sleety crap and last nights better effort at proper snow has left a couple of inches of the stuff here so I suppose I can’t complain.

conditions would make for a cracking winter walking day, shame i’m In work☹️

My assessment from yesterday/lastnight about a 3/10, i believe 80% of the Wirral got a covering lastnight that lasted well into the night. So just the Northern corner were I think 3 of us live missed out but at least we saw some snow fall.

Icy as hell out there.

Next go at some snow showers will be the weekend, slightly less cold air on the way til Fri.

-2.5°C here at sunrise. By far the coldest night of the winter.

It was disappointing from an imby perspective. The ppn diverted around my location before re invigorating as it went past. Was on alot of the edges of showers but still have covering ov about 1cm. Very slippery under foot.

Just caught a few good showers at the end which have frozen over, lovely.

Well I’ve got some frozen ice pellets/graupel/snow mix stuck to everything so that’s not a bad result. Probably ended up about how I was expecting  and it got colder than I thought it would.

Quite a nice first event of the winter. Decent snow last night definitely the best part. Iced over a bit overnight, so a winter wonderland outside again.

Attention now turns to where next, with the models showing promising signalling.

Had a low of -4*C, rising now the sun's up over the fell. Didn't think i'd have to wait this long for the first proper wintery morning. It has been a boring winter so far, not even had any notable storms or heavy rain since autumn.

A few pics from just over the Staffordshire border...

This was my view last night from my bedroom, no flash, just the snow illuminating the night...

I am very grateful as I know some people got zilch but this cover only really came from a few showers, if a streamer would have set up then it would have been so much deeper.

Still power in that sun. The fence looks like it's had boiling water on it.

6 minutes ago, Deep Snow please said:

Been some discussion about whether NW'ly or NE'ly is best for our region dependent largely on where people live. How about we compromise with a Northerly

That's a bad direction in general because of the wishbone effect. Frontal snow is ok but showers generally miss.
