I'll get nowhere near that as we have an incessant breeze and next to no snow cover. Plus being on a hill tends to ruin your chances of freezing fog most of the time

Breeze is quite light though at least it should be and it’s going to back off-shore by midnight; earlier for you. I reckon you’ll get around -2.5.

Some more showers but I would hazard a guess that the yellow line is as far inland as they can get,

Your drawings are worse than mine

I still think there could be some surprise snow showers to come, radar is coming to life again and those showers are now tracking more west to east.

Maybe sometime around 7pm.

I did see somewhere that there might be a little trough coming in around then. Knowing my luck I will probably miss them all as I have been all day.

Well it has to beat -1.6C to exceed this winters coldest temperature so far! In theory not exactly difficult.

I would of thought conditions are far better than lastnight too, could cover quite quickly.

Lol hope not.

Taken from the ice warning for tonight.

Further details

Showers falling as a mixture of rain, sleet and snow will continue overnight before easing by Thursday morning. The showers are likely to lead to ice forming on some untreated surfaces. Most areas are unlikely to see further accumulations of fresh snow but 1-2 cm is still possible in places.

Been sunny all day, could see clouds in distance passing either side of my location that look quite dark and full of snow

Temp has been mild too at 6 degrees

The next chase is also on the horizon.

Outlook for Friday to Sunday:

Cold on Friday with outbreaks of sleet and snow clearing to leave a dry afternoon. Mainly dry on Saturday but cold. Overnight frosts. Rain, sleet or snow later on Sunday.

Sunday looks a non-event for us on gfs at the moment but it can still change.

Exactly the same here, very frustrating. Max only 4.2°C hear though.

I really like the Hirlam when it comes into view at t48, I will believe it if that shows it.

At least 6 weeks of Winter left mate, I still think Feb or March will deliver a proper cold spell with proper snow. As you know Feb and March have actually produced great snowfalls for us.

Between 2100 and 0300 tonight the surface winds will have backed off-shore but steering  winds are still from the west. That is the best chance for any more settling snow if there’s any precip.
