Going to be so cold tonight, already dropping. I think I’ll probably get to around -5. Even lower under snow cover.

Latest text forecast.

Headline:

A cold night with some freezing fog and ice.

This Evening and Tonight:

A few wintry showers are possible near the coast this evening, but otherwise it will be dry and very cold under the clear skies overnight. There will be icy stretches forming, and some freezing fog patches. Minimum temperature -8 °C.

Thursday:

Patchy fog and ice to start. Then a cold day with sunny spells, but becoming breezy in the afternoon. A risk of some rain, sleet or snow in the south. Maximum temperature 3 °C.

Outlook for Friday to Sunday:

Cold on Friday with outbreaks of sleet and snow clearing to leave a dry afternoon. Mainly dry on Saturday but cold. Overnight frosts. Rain, sleet or snow later on Sunday.

Updated: 14:47 on Wed 30 Jan 2019

Quite promising in terms of precip and for Sunday. Ignore the rain bit tomorrow they’re just being silly.

I doubt there is much left in the city centre but plenty left here.

We had a really heavy fall - over 10cm.

There is some melting today but it’ll all refreeze tonight.

Tomorrow morning will be a nightmare, but because of ice, not snow.

Where are you in manc?

I’ve been round media city & Salford most of the morning. Amazingly the area around media city had deeper snow than the top end of Salford ( Irlam o’th height )

It is getting misty here. I bet the temperatures are dropping like a stone here now. Could be a icy evening rush hour here.

Still a good coating in Macclesfield. Absolute blizzard just after 7am this morning, probably an inch in the town centre now.

More still in Bollington as has been freezing fog and we had a little more

I'll get nowhere near that as we have an incessant breeze and next to no snow cover. Plus being on a hill tends to ruin your chances of freezing fog most of the time

Don’t think we will get anything Thursday into Friday as it looks too far south to me been looking at the radar unless it wraps round and comes back to us ...  if you know what I mean

The profile tends to rise as you go inland.. I can count how many times I've seen freezing fog here on the coast iny life on one hand

Most of the snow has melted here. It was thick enough to build a snowman earlier. I was hoping it would stick around so that the temps would fall stupidly low tonight. But now, probably -2/-3 likely
