We have an inch and a half of snow. It’s melting ridiculously fast though considering it’s 0.2C. Luckily there’s another shower on the way

AA Traffic map shows just how caught out Cheshire and Derbyshire councils were overnight due to the consistent snow showers, in the High Peak all roads are chock-a-bloc with local bus services either severely delayed or cancelling completely, no trains between Hazel Grove and Buxton due to points failure, and local roads blocked due to jackknifed lorries or cars unable to get up the gradients due to the ice underfoot.

I was supposed to be in Buxton this morning but that's not happening.

don't fancy a walk then ?‍♂️

I would but I was due in Buxton for a work interview, and the gaffa has emailed letting me know not to come in due to the transport chaos so i'll be waiting by the phone to have a quick chat before escaping the house afterwards with the camera.

If you look at the rear of the shower, new growth is tagging on.  Could develop into a very slow streamer.

At least they told you not to come in rather than you telling them you couldn't get in  Best of luck with it.

Looks like Preston is about to feel the force of this shower.Which has lasted quite a while now.Sky still dark near the coast.I cannot see a clearing appearing yet.Slow moving, are other shower clouds in the Irish Sea joining together.I am surprised how much snow you have all had. Some great photos.Still snowing near the coast, can you believe this news.A rare event

BBC Forecast not good at all Thursday - might just get the edge of the front around midnight

Had an inch here which is great and unexpected. Thursday seems to have downgraded but I consider myself South of the region, so may get lucky. At least the 6 year of seeing snow has ended, even if it's thawing. Well done Manchester tho looks rough.

made it in, treacherous to get to the along Hale Road M56, the irony of the main gritting depot being ice bound by the sheet ice on the slip roads at the four season

But kids and missus happy as school closed (shes a teacher) they'll have an ace day sledging

Big shower incoming along the right trajectory for South Mcr, I've learnt from this - wind direction is as important as dew points

No model had it fully nailed as it was such a dynamic atmosphere

My dusting of snow is frozen solid. -0.4°C. No more showers since 6 am. Oh well better than nothing I suppose.
