But winter tyres would only be better than normal ones for a couple of days each winter, most of our winter months they would be worse. What we really need in this country is car manufacturers to stop fitting normal cars with summer performance tyres from new, all cars in the UK should come with all season tyres, if you want high performance ones for the summer you should have to buy them separately.

Mercedes told me I had to buy winter tyres due to all year tyres crabbing at temps below 7c, this combined with their crap 4matic 4 wheel drive. They would store them and fit them each year at Bolton, declined them as they wanted £3.5 k for wheels and tyres!!

I got a feeling it will turn foggy tonight. No wind at all here a perfect ingredient for fog/freezing fog.

That's a decent size cloud.

Hope it his Chorley

Not strictly correct as winter tyres are better in plain cold and wet conditions, not just snow, and I believe are superior to summer tyres in temps of 7c or less. Therefore, they are generally better than summer tyres throughout winter, on balance, way more than just a couple of days. Of course, the problem is that fitting winter tyres can give people false confidence to think they can continue to drive as normal. You still need to drive to the conditions, even in winter tyres.

A bit meh in the grand scheme of things, yet again we just missed the main streamer. M53 is pretty bad in parts and a mate said Prenton is bad.

It is here's a better pic of what i actually got. Not much at all

AA Traffic map shows just how caught out Cheshire and Derbyshire councils were overnight due to the consistent snow showers, in the High Peak all roads are chock-a-bloc with local bus services either severely delayed or cancelling completely, no trains between Hazel Grove and Buxton due to points failure, and local roads blocked due to jackknifed lorries or cars unable to get up the gradients due to the ice underfoot.

I was supposed to be in Buxton this morning but that's not happening.
