Yes I think Cheshire rather than Lancashire will be more in the firing line from snow showers.

I had a suspicion today would be a damp squib for much of South Manchester/Cheshire region but I think we will do better from overnight snow showers.

Hope so because Thursday may well stay too far South for us.

We will see.

I'm interested in this feature that has developed just off the Hebrides... looks like shower activity is beginning to show some signs of rotation. I haven't noticed this on the models previously... (may have just missed it) Will be watching its development and trajectory over the next hour or so.

I don't think so sadly. The Euro4 looks north Cheshire and Manchester.  Obviously I'm hoping the MetO is correct but am preparing for no showers tonight.

I think this was picked up by ICON previously, should move SSE and dissipate

Sorry, sounds like I missed this completely!

I've seen features like this zip down the west coast of Scotland before, sometimes they die out, sometimes the re-intensify over the Irish Sea.

I would keep an eye on it.

It's the third low yes. Was on the FAX. Although ever so slightly further north.

Think the models the other day showed it to die out over south western Scotland

Well that was a bit underwhelming, certainly around here.

a full days steady snow dropped about 3 inches up here, maybe 2 inches at work and the heaviest snow I saw all day was from a shower on the way home from work.

one good thing was how quiet the roads were coming up the valley as a lot of folk looked to have finished work early.

i’ve seen busier Sunday tea times.

maybe some decent showers overnight but as for who gets them, it’s down to lamp post watching.

Clear skies and 5c now, making it warmer than at any point during the rain before. Can already tell it's over here.

Hello mate.

I know you’ve seen it already but EURO4’s best guess is as good as mine.

Streamer developing approx 3am, in a line roughly Liverpool to Manchester, slowly sinking south to reach Cheshire by 9am.

Good luck everyone - happy radar/lamppost watching

Awoke to sound of rain.. which was never a good sign, and I just felt it was going to be a frustrating event snowfall wise - alas it turned out to be. Some moderate bursts of sleety wet snowy stuff through the morning and lunchtime period, but not cold enough to lay. We have a green wet scene outside instead of a white one. What is odd though is how just 2 miles east of here, the snow managed to stick, only a cm or two but on most surfaces - and the snowline is lower in altitude than here. Can only think the wind direction hasn't helped, more of a SW flow and too much modification from proximity to the sea, we needed a more direct westerly flow, so the air was cooled sufficiently over the fells - to our SW is low ground only - however, anywhere just slightly further NE will have done ok, thanks to air cooling sufficiently enough over slightly higher ground (i.e. just here)..its startling how subtle differences in wind direction and relief can make in these set ups.

Attention now turns to events this evening and overnight, a more favourable set of uppers, dewpoints, less saturated air, and a westerly flow, all the right ingredients for snow settling - we just need the showers to appear and preferably band together, not expecting much but 1 cm would equal the most we have seen so far this winter..

Thursday looks very annoying for here, the front doing an about turn to our south and pivoting almost saying look at me your not going to see me.. but it might justmake it here..
