Freezing rain here. It may as well be freezing rain because it will become icy overnight under clear skies.

IMBY IMBY IMBY - I hope it is more NW as I seem to be missing this westerly train

No! No! No!

We want a westerly! I’m hoping the para will correct the op.

Frankly we should know the wind direction by now, it’s madness that we don’t!

Quite surprised at the reports of wintery precip at modest levels. 850s are only around -4 this evening. I suppose the slack flow is already playing its part.

It's an update to the snow and ice warning that was previously just Scotland I think (with there being 3 seperate ones) Now it's extended through parts of cumbria and down the penines

Updated:

21:50 on Mon 28 Jan 2019 GMT

Reason for update

Parts of northwest England, particularly higher ground, have been added. Northwest England may see localised 2-4 cm above 200m. Ice will affect some untreated surfaces. There we go.

not sure what the warning is

Further details

Showers will turn increasingly to snow on higher ground then to lower levels later in the night and on Tuesday morning. 5 to 10 cm of fresh snow is expected above about 200m in Scotland with a cover of 1 to 2 cm at lower levels. Northwest England may see localised 2-4 cm above 200m. Ice will affect some untreated surfaces.

Can't see nothing much on the radar after this showery stuff passes through.  Might be home grown through the early hours.

I can see why it might be affecting Mcr airport...they've been under a potent band of wintry stuff mostly affecting south manchester

My thoughts exactly. The Irish sea is dead. However we've often seen it spring in to life in no time
