I keep hearing Liverpool to Hull.

No snow beyond the M62

The Met Office giving areas that could be affected by motorways in their update today was absolutely bloody hilarious. Anyone EC snow depth charts look good for parts of our region:

They seem to be pinning everything on the ECM and discarding everything else?

Not paying attention to mad thread either....we’ve got tomorrow & Wednesday before worrying about three days from now... glad some are seeing snow showers and they are making it inland...

-1c dew -3c was clear now clouding up from nw.... if euro, ec, icon, arpege, arome  etc to be believed and the updated faxes showing troughs so all indications are that it will be quite showery in nw England after the cold front has passed....

Peak District forecast update interesting for tomorrow through Thursday but there after extremely uncertain...

A bit of intensification inland, The fish on the far left may just clip the Peak District if it has the fins.

I'm not sure that model will pick up convection either TBH..

Which hopefully we will see , as Joe Bloggs/Mucka have referred too..

Currently -1.2°C here, with a few showers heading in. Fingers crossed!

Interesting.

This is from Jo the forecaster who works on Net-Weather -

"And not to be taken too literally, but maybe interesting to watch the low away to the NW, not just #StormGabriel away to the south (named by MeteoFrance)"

Peak District rain shadow showing up well there, which is why I don't like to see the low elongate and promote E'ly winds on its N flank. Much prefer the GFS scenario. No idea why this rainshadow keeps happening now...I don't remember it being a factor pre 2013.

Anyone would think we had the Himalayas next to us, given how the models respond to it.

It’s bizarre. I’d understand it if the precipitation was coming in FROM the east.

Must be fairly complex physics involved.

Never seems to be a problem when it’s rain involved - only snow!

2013 was a real pain in the backside for this.

Yes, not quite sure how it can only affect one precipitation type- as you say, it doesn't stop the rain. I certainly have no explanation for it.

Yes, the track wont be nailed - looks quite a narrow band of precip on euro4 so it will likely miss some ..
