More or less ties in with the latest updates to the met office forecasts .....there's very little snow in the forecast for here now for tomorrow/wed.  BUT this has changed twice today already so maybe will change again.

The Icon Accum Charts don't tell the whole Story . You will see Snow in Preston tomorrow .

Looks like the Met Office are trending for more and more for showers for the region after the front clears.

Forecast for Wednesday text was originally dry and sunny but the shower symbols on their forecast for Wednesday has increased as the day has gone on.

Remind me of last year when Merseyside missed out by hairs breadth, when it "corrected" south...

I would’ve thought there would be no doubt that showers will be  battering the west of the region on Wednesday and Tuesday night. Don’t know why people thought otherwise. You have to take those apps with a big pinch of salt.

Pretty much as expected. They won’t mention tomorrow night in detail until tomorrow.

it says wintry showers spreading inland as the night goes on, is that what is currently over northern island now? is this a trough feature?

Very slight change on the 12z GFS - the flow is slightly more to the NW than W, so the focus of showers is more towards the west.

Will see if the parallel run thinks the same shortly.

There really is rather dry air around today. That will do nicely at cooling and drying the ground in preparation for the next few days. Dry air = greater evaporation = more evaporative cooling of the surface.

Yes Joe, the shower activity is what is going to do it for Merseyside & Manchester. The main band before this should be good for many others.

From a purely selfish point of view was hoping that tomorrow's main thrust of wintry showers was timed for after 3pm to allow me to return home from work lol but hey-ho it looks like setting in at mid-day according to meto - lasting well into rush hour.... could be tricky commute if the snow is widespread.

Indeed. It's so fickle.

My patch really needs a direct westerly flow, as does South Lancs.

12z GFS looks more promising for Merseyside & West Cheshire but it'll be a case of keeping an eye on the radar come the time!

That’s a cold front though. There will be showers after it.
