A barrage of southern toys are being ejected out of prams after that GFS and FAX charts.  Could it be RIP to the sacred channel low?

Can somebody advise me as to why BBC and Metoffice forecasts for ppn between Tuesday and Thursday are a million miles apart? BBC has heavy snow symbols from Tuesday evening right through to Thursday afternoon yet Met have just a couple of light snow symbols on Tuesday and dry throughout the rest of the week?

Still 3c here.... beeb forecast looks quite snowy next week... we will see... that’s why Uk weather is interesting/ frustrating as it’s so volatile and that’s one reason I’ve moved to 300m above sea level having grown up in Spain, lived in usually snowless Isle of Man and living in generally snowless Kent at sea level on the north Kent coast.... I’ve had at least one snow event every winter over the last six years.... loving it... when the high res short models ie euro, hirlam etc come into 24hr timeframe we should know a little more detail... have a good rest of your weekend...tomorrow having an morning catch up with a few besties not seen since before Christmas with a mass of bacon butties

A notice that you or I can use at our leisure.

I treat you as an honorary Northerner. Please do dot be offended by the southern references.  A poster has just said on the MOB thread that it was more like the SE regional.

We all have differing opinions and the best I can come up with is to take a blend of the two forecasts.

Seems to be a fair bit of precip to my North with some greens and pinks in it.

Bursts  of moderate and heavy rain all evening without much let up. If this was snow I would have a good few inches by now. Anyway a little bit colder than I thought it would be only 3.8°C. Still looking good for Tuesday, can’t wait.

Regional forecast

Outlook for Tuesday to Thursday:

Wintry showers on Tuesday, with perhaps some more persistent snow overnight into Wednesday. Some further transient snow is likely on Thursday. Widespread, perhaps severe overnight frosts, with ice likely too.

looks like somewhere in the Midlands may get clobbered on Tuesday.

This set up will cut off our showers too ☹️

TBH this was alway likely to be the outcome and after just watching the BBC forecast, both them and the Met O seem to be going down the same road of pushing the system far enough north to kill of our showers without allowing us to join in the fun of the frontal snow.

there’s still time for it to change though but I think this will once again turn out to be a case of our region snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.

i haven’t dared go into the mad thread this morning although with the system looking that far north, toys may still be flying as areas further south could see rain instead of snow.

i may just pluck up courage and sneak in.
