ECM is much better for the NW. Gives us a chance at snow pretty much every day next week and obviously elevation will play a part.

Tuesday and Wednesday is looking good.

Just got online, not scanned mod thread yet but signs for Western side of Peak District are good.

Looks like my son's  trips Monday through Wednesday to Buxton College are going to be in jeopardy and my other son's trips to and from school in Oldham will be also affected.

Remember it well, we went to London for the weekend and the only snow we saw was photos and news coverages of it burying the north.

we had almost a foot othe stuff at home, by the time got home it had all melted☹️

I remember that event. Had two hours of ice pellets followed by rain and then torrential snow for an hour which gave me 2 inches. Then it turned to rain again and I threw the towel in and went to bed.

If I remember correctly 850s were between -1 and 0 but we had a cold continental inversion in the Boundary  layer.

Just waiting on the GFS rolling out now mate, still looking v good for our region.

Is this low going to produce some heavy snow weds into thurs? Still looking good to me.

Should know soon on this run...

Certainly going back in the right direction with that low. Just waiting for the Hi-Rez to complete so I can get the tabular data I like to look at.

The only negative is that low is still at day 5 so plenty of changes yet.

What ever happens just don’t want that low going south of us and giving everyone snow and not us.

I’d rather it barrel through too far north and be rain for everyone!

I just hope the law of averages even themselves out as we missed 3 last year, one of which if you remember had us on an amber alert only 48 hours out only for it to shift south at T24! A lot going on next week and we have sleet & snow showers to hopefully look forward to even before that low arrives.

Only inland with considerable elevation. Wind is too strong.

5cm is a like a foot to the Wirral, would take that all day long.

It’s difficult to get any further from the sea than here and not many live higher than I do but i’m not that optimistic about seeing anything more than a slushy mess, as you say the wind will be to strong with too much of the cold being mixed out.

even if we do get something lying I can’t imagine it lasting that long into the day, yes it will feel damn cold in the wind but forecast temperatures are at best average and probably on the mild side.

never mind, hopefully plenty of opportunities coming up next week.

Is it just me who feels really short changed when you see a weather warning for you area only to find it relates to ice.

on this occasion i’m just outside the yellow zone but it irritates all the same, it’s not like ice even does anything.

heavy rain, heavy snow, high winds you can see something happening but I can open my freezer door and see ice.

sorry a bit of a tongue in cheek moment and it can cause accidents but it just shows how dull our region is weather wise when the best we can achieve is a warning for ice.

if drizzle warranted a warning though, we’d be on permanent red alert.

Pretty sure we’ll get a snow warning of some kind on Tuesday night and probably Thursday as well by the look of the latest GFS

Yeah but knowing our look it will be telling us that the midlands and  south will be getting heavy snow and blizzards with the northern extent somewhere around stoke.
