The low mid week has downgraded somewhat though. Hopefully we see corrections the other way soon.

Wouldn't take much of a shift south to become heavy snow, still good enough time for this to happen. I think looking at above charts a shift south is more likely than a shift north, still a few days before the track is resolved despite what ECM comes up with soon.

UKMO & ICON aren't far off being absolute belters.

Anyone else feel the Model & Banter thread is a complete joke ?

5% good post, 95% absolute drivel.

I decided this morning was my last post in there, going to focus on our region and that's it.

Well Tuesday just looks better every time I look at it. 500 mb temperatures down to -41°C as well. Almost into polar low conducive territory there.

@Day 10 Yep agreed. At least we have Tuesday first if it does go wrong.

Looks like potential for wintry/snow showers on Sunday and Monday as well in places.

Yes I really like the look of Tuesday too, the dream forecast would be heavy snow showers on Tuesday followed by heavy snow weds/thurs. Very rare to have something like that but it is actually a possibility.

Peak District forecast update looks stormy and snowy for Sunday and cold with snow showers and more organised snow through next week....

staying well out of the model forum and just looking at all chart runs and making my own opinion....

I’m here but I know what you mean about no names showing.

anyway only just got in so are we still in upgrade mode for our region next week and is it still dodge the low flying toys in the mad thread.

Dare I have a full on ramp here and say that the Met. O forecast for the next couple of weeks has memories of the late 70’s and early 80’s winters about it.

yes there will no doubt be downgrades but there are plenty of snow opportunities showing and the chance of severe frosts so all I all it could be a damn site worse

I noticed the mountain forecasts mention a persistent period of snow on Sunday night. Haven’t seen any evidence of this on gfs. Any thoughts?  We get -8 850s then as well but thought it was looking dry.

Ill take 2 or 3 days of snow showers from a cold nw, just enough to give us a decent covering then the rest of you lot can have your easterly. No one misses out and we all go into spring happy bunnies ....

Hard to figure out as when it was wtitten the snow prospects might have looked good, what model they used to come to that conclusion is any bodies guess.

Whilst the Peak District forecast is obviously not applicable to all parts of the region, the mountain forecasts do give a good indication of snow level as they normally mention freezing height and snow level, which is informative for low level parts as to snow chances.

Folks in the mad thread are much happier again now as it looks like their snowmagedon is back on after once again pinching our bloody weather system.

i haven’t looked myself but it sounds like they are expecting feet of the stuff with everyone north of the midlands getting jack s**t.

Anyway history says they will end up being being right but until the Met O agrees with them i’ll keep my shovel at the ready.
