Still only 2.5°C. Expected it to be around 5°C by now but it’s reluctant to rise.

Woke up to no snow, what fell lastnight has melted. Checked the radar and it's snowing down south again.

Country brought to its knees then?

Rinse and repeat cycle throughout winter. Never ends well with toys inevitably being thrown out of the pram in the mod thread!

All eyes on next week's weather. Most models points to a cold and snowy outlook next week. :cold:

Fingers crossed.

06GFS is fantastic for us in the NW snow chances all the way until the end of the run

Snow even getting down to sea level. and colder than the last NW

Now I have gone at jinxed it

Really liking the look of mid next week. 850s not that special between -6 and -8 most of the time but pressure is low so geo-potential heights are low and boundary layer temperatures are also conducive. DPs well down as well. Freezing level fluctuating between around 50-300 m.

Looking at the GEFS for next week a cold spell looks likely now upper Temperatures are around -8 until around the 04Feb then a big spread going forward as you would expect a few cheeky members bring -15HPA towards the end and a few just for balance bring in +7 HPA so next week cold yes snow more than likely how much and were yet to be resolved

Above is for Manchester.

And even though the runs are fluctuating somewhat the trend over last couple of days has kept the Northwest on the cold side of the jet with plenty of snow chances, starting to look good for us next week.

If I was to be really picky I would prefer -10HPA just to take away those too words

EC snow depth charts reveal det is an absolute snow fest midlands north...

If it corrects south over the next day or 2 then the carnage moves south...

Dont want any corrections north for sure.

This peaked my interest. What are you classing as a snowfest (depth wise?)

UK Outlook for Tuesday 29 Jan 2019 to Thursday 7 Feb 2019:

Cold with blustery wintry showers on Tuesday, these will be most frequent across western parts,

for starters

It's looking like we're going to have an extremely mixed week.

8'C by dawn, compared to -4'C or whatever it was on Wednesday morning!

image.thumb.png.1c9dd16091f250a8a93b455a9144c139.png

Colder by the weekend by the looks of things with possible snow on the highest ground on Saturday before things settle down and turn cooler on Sunday.

By then hopefully we can have a better understanding of any potential snowfalls next week, particularly Tuesday/Wednesday - as at the moment I quite frankly haven't the faintest clue on what could be in store, aside from the fact that the uppers look a little more promising than of late if any precipitation was to fall.

We'll see what happens - one thing's for sure this mild junk tomorrow and Saturday is extremely short lived (to think that some Atlantic driven zonal Winters we have days like tomorrow from November to March?  )

Just under a foot of snow for here. Can we bank that?

How accurate are these charts? (don't worry, I know they're generally useless).

They are useless without a doubt - but to a lesser extent in the more wider picture it does suggest that it is picking up on signals for next week to be wet at times, and with uppers -5'C or lower I hope to see at least some snow falling, whether it sticks is another question.
