Most certainly!

Last winter I left Cumbria for north Devon - that night my location received its most significant snowfall of the winter. If that was not bad enough the part of north Devon I was in was in an unexplained 5 mile radius in Barnstaple Bay that received no snow at all during the major snowstorm that hit the south west last winter. Everywhere to the north, south, east and west had 2 feet of snow.

It absolutely knocked me for six and I realised that wherever I am, major snow will never come - it literally felt as though this was fate - deliberate almost, the depression was unexplainable. I am expecting nothing from this upcoming snow spell.

Go on then whereabouts in the Lake District?

Currently -0.5°C so another air frost. I’ve forgot my air frost count, will check it tomorrow. Think it’s 7.

Not 6ft but Tomintoul had 4ft level snow in 1978. I would give my right arm to get snow like this in this day and age. Looks like the US when they get lake effect snow.

Some could do ok today, precip looks pretty heavy and it isn’t fizzling out. Prob need some altitude for settling or even snow falling though.

-4c overnight currently -2c...hard frost overnight, snow still in places sun didn’t reach yesterday....hoping for a little more than a dusting...will keep an eye on the sky later... if models are to be believed south of Peak District could do well out of today...I think it’ll be persistence of precip rather than intensity...we shall see...now casting and uncertainty what makes the weather interesting and sometimes frustrating

Its nice to have a nowcast event even if it is lacking in intensity and borderline for many, if i see a snowflake today i'll be a happy chappy.

Tuesday doesn't look cold enough for full on snow which is disappointing.

Perhaps more knowledgeable poster on her can tell me other wise.

Radar has some pinks pushing into Cheshire - probable good dusting over Snowdonia - its cold enough for our usual Salwick Sleet event.

You think its going to be one of those times it seems to be arriving but just sits there and progress becomes painful until it fizzles out?

Oh don’t jinx it. it’ll probably wait till afternoon when it’s too warm and then intensify and start moving again when we don’t want it.

Got a horrible feeling this will be one of those days where precip arrives just as it's warm enough to fall as rain. Hope I'm wrong.

Unfortunately I have as well. Temp is rocketing up now, 1.5°C. We might be okay with evaporative cooling though, no wind and 850s are alright.
