Well it’s a very gusty wet day just like yesterday it’s that gusty I can not keep my windows open as they keep slamming shut

Hi all

Are we going to get any snow this winter in the northwest or what?

I feel like I’ve been viewing the models and model thread for months and I miss taking a break from that to concentrate on nowcast snow events in here

I see potential for next weekend onwards, please let it deliver!!

There some early promise for next week onwards, but until Thurs I'm not really getting too excited.

I am getting tired of this dull, damp weather. :bad:  I am hoping the weather will bring snow and cold in the next few weeks.

Colder looks to be quite a safe bet especially so the week after next... snow will of course remain at the mercy of many variables even when it arrives at the here and now.  Some potent northerlies/north westerlies showing up in the land of make believe but we'll need lots to go under the bridge before we take any of that seriously.

Obviously subject to lots of change at 4 days out, and only one run, but it should give hope to most of the region, but im mainly posting it because of that little sliver on the fylde coast and ribble estuary that i know a few of us live in...GREEN AGAIN!

EDIT Actually looking properly we do just make it!

Met Office now showing snow flurries on Thursday in Chorley for me. At least there is Hope at last!

In fact it could snow following days as well and the met office showing cloudy weather and temps just above freezing most of daytime.

My God chart of the year for little old Merseyside, pity it'll be wrong and probably end up further south!

Haha. It's ok, this is the forecast for Runcorn. The BBC just spelled it Yellowknife for some reason

Afternoon guys, hope we’re all well today.

Probably the wrong place to ask this but I can’t figure out where would be the right place, so if anyone could answer or advise where to ask I’d be grateful.

My nephew hew has decided he wants to learn about weather/forecasting etc. He’s 20 but has learning difficulties, so where would you say is a good place to start for him that’s fairly simple and internet based (he struggles with books)? I learned mostly from books and added to my knowledge on the internet so I’m not sure where would be a good starting point.

Cheers, Ed.

Hi Ed!

There’s some fantastic information in the Net Weather guides section of the forum. I’d advise starting there. You can always post here too with any questions he may have and I, among many others will be happy to answer!

Just to let you guys know I am in central Lake District (Ambleside area) so there will be no snow at all - snow will never fall where I am - this was confirmed last year when during the South west snowstorm I was in a 5 mile radius area in Barnstaple that received NO snow, and on the night I left Cumbria to drive to Devon they received there highest most significant snowfall of the year.

There will be no snow in lower parts of the Lake District where I am during this 'predicted' cold to come.....
