Can’t see much if any snow tbh, the 850 temps quickly going positive during Saturday before the main front activity reaches the region. Blizzards no, freezing rain maybe higher up where the freezing level sits. Wind maybe more of an issue but no mention of that in the warning.

Aperge for 13:00 Saturday, 850 temps going up.

The important thing is lower down in the boundary layer, 925–950 MB. Big risk ice pellets.

Leaving the Wirral/Liverpool out of the equation, yep can tell it's the snow chase season

I can’t see much in the way of snow from this event even up here.

as others have said, the warmer uppers arrive too soon but with a cold ground ice may be a bigger risk and is probably more of a justification for the weather warning than snow.

plenty of time for the white stuff between now and next spring

Assuming precipitation reaches the west coast around 9 AM: Those above about 300 m will see snow;  a brief wintery mix transition followed by freezing rain; then rain from late afternoon. Below 300 m, snow quickly changing to ice pellets from the south,  continuing until mid afternoon;  a brief wintery mix; then rain. The lower you are the longer the ice pellets will last.

Considering there's a strong south-east wind the ARPEGE shows the infamous rain shadow opening up over Greater Manchester. Hopefully a more direct easterly after xmas will deliver like it did earlier this year.

I won't be here on Saturday - alas wont be able to report on things, but it looks like Windermere and much of central lakes could see a few hours of wet snow, I suspect it will be snow rather than rain thanks to evaporative cooling - we do very well in these set ups, could be a good cover, before quickly turning to slush - but excellent timing for children etc, enough to build a snowman.. being a Saturday. The fells about to receive there first proper dumping this season - rather late this year.

Foreign Liverpool fan here, will it be below average temperatures for the United game on Sunday on Merseyside or is that still just on Friday and Saturday? I sense a warming tendency in the Weatheronline forecast.

Horrible downgrade on 00Z WRF. Wouldn’t even get ice pellets from that. Rain at all levels. Hopefully reverts back on the 06Z.

Hi

Looks a little bit milder but not much as we’re in to a polar maritime airmass by then. Looks mostly dry and clear with maybe a few light showers around and a moderate SW breeze.

Up the reds.   Salah hat-trick again.

Minimum was -0.7°C, 4th air  frost of the season.
