A day without rain and a bit of sunshine...a rare occurrence indeed of late.

Feels damn raw though.

I'll be popping out for a visit to the crimbo markets in a while so i'll take an extra layer...but at least waterproofs shouldn't be needed.

Peeing down under a Cheshire gap streamer...

No respite from the rain here today.

Just wait until snow is piling up from one in January though.

I can guarantee that when conditions become favourable for snowfall, winds will become too westerly and push the precipitation to Greater Manchester. Just you watch

Up into Lancashire would be better still but I know what you mean.

Well at least it stayed dry, earlier... but like someone mentioned it felt RAW out there!! It's felt like this for a while now, is this a precursor to something COLDER!! I'm not like some on here, who are a lot more knowledgeable about the weather... but I've mentioned it before on here, the last time it felt like this was 2010... I've not put it with earlier this year the BEAST, cause that was completely different lol

This day last year I’d put the tree up and there was snow on the ground, and roof

Yes we had a good cold spell around this time last year, a hangover from a generally cold period since late November. We didn't see much snow, but lots of hard frost and it felt much more seasonal than December this year has. Alas the cold weather was cast aside by mid-month not sure exact date, and there followed a very benign very mild spell -yet again week before christmas, we've had 7 of them in a row now! and I'm not liking the model output for said same period this year, would be 8 in a row.. getting silly now.

Did i hear the word snow on the tv ??

I don’t know but having two full days without rain is a minor miracle after the crap of the last couple of weeks.

GFS 12Z now shows 3 hours of snow saturday for my location. This transitioning to ice pellets and then rain. DP remains sub-zero untill 15:00.

So our wee corner of the globe looks like being dominated be an HP, from about day 11 or so? The details do not matter yet; it's the general signal that's important, IMO...

Would be nice to see it fall if only for a few hours.

Yep, not bothered about accumulations at this stage.

The WRF 12Z looks good as well, although it would result in a quick transition to ice pellets. If we can hold that inversion at 800 mb back for just a little while then snow would be guaranteed.
