A woeful day so far in the Lake District - incessant rain, heavy intense bursts at times - radar confirms this, look at the red over the central fells.

Synoptics very similiar to Storm Desmond, a long drawn exceptionally mild moist airstream with tropical air trapped within, and a waving front seemingly stuck over us, with no land in the way, airstream crossing the Irish Sea, then pounding the sw approaches, with the air forced over the fells, intensifying the rain.

Plenty more rain to come.

One or two roads already closed, and many are passable with care only.

Looking forward to a more average spell next week.

In the run up to winter - here's a reminder of how good this hobby can be - here are the good times - in all their glory.

I could pull out 2010  Dec 17th but i cant find it, but anyway, I've never known you to be satisfied with an event so that's probably counter-productive.

I would move if i lived somewhere really crap, i didn't spend longer than 2 years in Manchester City Centre or Salford, i know people will point to the fact that i haven't quite had the spectacular i wanted when i moved here but its not like its tragic here, everywhere has had it crap the last 5 years.

Frosty start this morning but after the mainly cloudy gloom of the last few days it was nice to see clear blue skies and sunshine.

a bit coolish though but all in all a lovely day to be stuck inside.

After a misty coolish start it’s turned into a decent days weather up here and certainly better than the BBC forecast which showed plenty of cloud over the region.

its just a shame that i’ve come down with a bout of something dodgy otherwise a few hours out walking on the tops would have been worth the effort.

Instead of a mild and wet Halloween we could be in for something cold and frosty this year...definitely a cooling trend towards next weekend.
