If you look at the chart depths on euro4 some places in the Peak District, I’m thinking around Buxton and higher villages and like of kinder it’s 20-40cm

I reckon there's a good chance of snow settling even to quite low levels after dark on Tuesday, maybe earlier if they're heavy and/or persistent enough. Will be shocked if I don't do well out of this. North westerlies are the snow jackpot for this area normally! Just so long as the wind direction is right. E'lys best here, they rule, from NW'lys in Stafford -10 uppers required for proper snow, wet snow can fall -7 to -

Aye, but different setup completely, snowed heavy here too, and whiteout temporary though
ChezWeather 674 Posted January 21 Looking favourable for the usual hotspots (Buxton) Lets hope some of us lower down can see abit of snow too!
markw2680 1,660 Posted January 21 All I no is we quite often get a good streamer set up here from a northwesterly so if it’s cold enough we could get quite a bit and say the uppers are more than cold enough once this front passes through

Talk of rain sleet and a few snow showers to me that seems accurate with just -7 uppers, at low levels anyway, still confident of falling wet snow tomorrow, but for a proper fall need to be 200m+ plus Edited January 21 by I remember Atlantic

I leave redditch with rain and sleet and get home to whiteout. Happens all the time, but do think anything from about 150m will do pretty good tomorrow particularly in the evening if there’s any precipitation left

Really don’t understand why people seem to be dismissive of there being much if any snow away from the highest ground. All the parameters look very good for snow in late winter nevermind mid winter! Seems to be the case that every north westerly gets downplayed here only for several inches of snow to blanket down. Can’t understand it.
