I don’t understand what all the panic is about? It’s going to be a nowcast situation regarding the morning. If you live with any height I’d say there’s a decent chance of some but if your on low ground then expect the worst case and you just never no

Hmmm just took a look at gfs 12z!!still not too bad for the midlands!!expected it to look worse!!

Strange as the low is clearly more South maybe theres more cold air mixed in. We straw clutching though. But just a smidge North and the Midlands gets buried.

Midlands looking good - more especially the southern parts

Chilterns probably the most optimal-

If your on the GFS northern extent I would be nervous!

Steve, what's your opinion on Northampton's prospects? On some models, we look to be in a decent position but we may only see sleet if the GFS is correct.

All talk of how far north this system will go but people seem to be missing the frequent wintry/snow showers that will be moving down from the north at the same time....

Indeed Shaky, will be looking very closely at the radar during the next few hours. We should all hope that the precipitation now approaching ROI, moves as far north as possible. Also important to look at intensity, the more intense the better.

So things I want tonight. Blues to win so 3 points and then snow to start from about midnight through till mid morning and get loads. Radar watching will begin after the game hopefully followed by lamppost watch

Northern extent of that system isn’t the be all and end all for the Midlands as there’ll be very frequent wintry showers moving down from the north at the same time. Hence there are 2 warnings for snow, not just one.

Hi mate

Just zoomed in on my little topography map for Northampton & your ~ 90M which is pretty good elevation > So that could give you an edge -

Not quite as good as places like Daventry & Towcester that are up at 150M but a fair crack of the whip.
