Strangely P.M I've just been on the Met Office website and it doesn't show that update, their last update is shown as 10.29 this morning with the southern boundary of the warning roughly Sheffield across  to just south of  Manchester. Not quite sure what's going on.

I've noticed there's a more organised band of showers moving across our region on Tuesday evening, could be a potential snow event.

Indeed. I suspect Stoke could see a few bouts of wintriness in the week ahead.

Been out at a village on the river west of Shrewsbury and the river is now a fast flowing lake already and won’t peak untill tomorrow! It’s going to be really bad in Salop next two days!

A bit of sleet early this morning but this far south there was too much mild air mixed into the system for any significant snow.

Severe flood warning in place at Shrewsbury. Wouldn’t be in the least bit surprised if further severe flood warnings are issued given the amount of rain that has fallen overnight, and which continues to fall in sensitive areas.

Hard to believe people are talking about snow when temperatures are between 12 and 14c.

Shrewsbury is a mess at the moment.

just been out for a walk as the kids school had to do an emergency closure as it’s right next to the flooding (Where these photos are taken)

sirens regularly, lots of places closing early and staying closed tomorrow and talk around time that records could be broken....

it’s already worse than last week and we have a peak tonight and another possibly higher peak tomorrow night.

Things are getting rapidly worse downstream in Bewdley as well. The Severn has risen 80 cm here in the last 12 hours, with possibly as much as another metre still to go. The top end of the predicted range would break both last week's and 2000's marks and mean the worst flooding in Bewdley since 1947. The high school (on the opposite bank to the town centre) has organised bus shuttles via the bypass, which remains open. The town bridge is open to pedestrians and cyclists only, but even that may well change tomorrow. (It was totally closed for a bit last week too.)

Worst concern in this town is for the Wribbenhall (eastern) bank, where defences are not as high as on the town (western) side. According to Dave Throup of the EA, if the river level reaches around 5.5m (was 5.3-ish last week) then that could mean those Wribbenhall defences being overtopped -- and that level is now a distinct possibility. If so, there'll probably have to be quite a few homes evacuated.

It's feeling pretty grim along the Severn right now.

Oh, and 12.8 °C today, though it certainly didn't feel that way in the wind, despite the sun having a bit of warmth to it by this point in the year.

Heard they have closed the shopping centers in Shrewsbury, can't ever remember those late 90s/early 2000s floods doing that. Not been into town today but did yesterday afternoon when it was already coming into the streets. And lots of rural roads still have floods on them, and the ground is like a big everywhere.

They didn’t do that in 2000 but should have. Was working for M and S at the time and due to the power in town getting cut off due to floods at about 1pm the police had to evacuate the entire town Center!

Everyone out over duck boards in Frankwell and Abbey Foregate or kingsland bridge or the Dana. They were only routes out! mad day.

After a lull noticed river is on the rise down at Newtown and Welshpool tonight. Tomorrow’s, what might be disastrous, peak building now.

Going to push all time record on the Severn from Newtown to Worcester! Kids school shut tomorrow and probs Wednesday. Will get out and take some more photos tomorrow.

A thin ( 0.5cm ) snow cover earlier this morning after a fairly heavy snow shower around 0630 but most of it had thawed by 0900. Mainly sunny since then but snow showers visible to the north from time to time.
