Is it still looking on the cooler side.. Some early snow?

snow seems unthinkable, I'm still in summer mode, hopefully it can be as warm as possible until Dec, then I'll start looking for cold, but we all know it will be mild then

Quite bad flooding of fields and overflow from canals and ponds round here now. Can't even walk the dog as it's over my Wellingtons

Rain finally stopped after nearly 27 hours.

Pretty bad waterlogging of fields and surface water flooding of roads.

Yes rain beginning to ease here too. We had a similar 24 hour spell over Summer but this was more intense for longer periods so the flooding is far worse

We’ve had about 5 of these spells over the summer and autumn so far but this was the worst one.

At least this one only lasted about 30 hours, as opposed to a couple of the summer ones being the best part of 3 days!

Some incredible rainfall in and around the Stoke/Peak/Chrshire areas. The Churnett and Weaver have hitgrecord highs today, Upper Trent rising fast.

Churnett Valley Railway had to cancel services today as the canal overflowed. (photo from facebook)

Certainly reading on social media, the flooding around Stoke and Nantwich (where I plan to move) was the worst some can remember. There is a small brook in the reserve near here and water levels were about 6 foot, it was a raging river in places.

I’m not surprised. Not only did this event deliver large amounts but the last 5 months have been ridiculously wet.

river sow peaked at 2.52m just 2 cm under its nov 7 2000 record

sandyford brook at sandon rd beat its previous record by a massive 32cm set jan 27 2013 peaking at 1.56m

with the ground already saturated and a possibly wet winter to come further flooding could well be an issue

The end of this coming week looks grim. Could be some big flooding problems. It has been so so wet since May/June.

Following on from the rain we have blue skies!!! A chance for the ground to dry out a bit.

First air frost of the winter here, with a temp of -0.8C at 06:00.

Lovely and white with it all as well.

Shame the unsettled weather will be coming back so soon. It's been a couple of days of beautiful Autumn weather following the latest deluge. Foggy and frosty start this morning. Now blue skies and sunshine.

GFS with another 80 mm here up to the 7th of November.

I'm meant to be going to a fireworks display at Trentham Gardens on Friday, which was under water this weekend. With more rain to come before then, I hope it won't be cancelled.

This looks interesting for Bonfire night.

After the weekends rain we could be seeing a Northerly straight from Kamchatka!!   (well it is the GFS).

The Severn in Bewdley peaked on Tuesday afternoon at around 4.5-4.6 metres -- up about three metres since the previous Friday! The highest level since 2014, and in truth we were quite lucky that the river was low beforehand, otherwise it could have been more serious. The few days' respite we've had recently has been vital, since the EA projection is for the river to start rising again tomorrow evening. A repeat of Saturday's exceptional rainfall in Wales would be potentially disastrous and could even lead to levels close to the 5.5 metres this town endured in 2000 (beaten only by 1947 in the last 200 years), but thankfully that doesn't look likely.

Mind you, it's chucking it down outside as I type...!

Talking of bonfire night, I was thinking of taking the family to Drayton Manor and the fire works spectacular tomorrow (Sat) ...Emmm I'm thinking of giving it a miss

After torrential rain but little wind this morning as the low pressure centre passed over, the back edge winds are now ramping up in a powerful way.

Hopefully most wind and rain will have dropped by this evening and our bonfire night celebrations.

October was the 4th wettest on record here ( since 1977) with 170.9 mm of rain. Only the Octobers of 1998, 2000 and 2013 were wetter. This autumn, up to the end of October, is already the 14th wettest on record and still the whole of November to go. Mind you it would take an exceptionally wet November to beat the 579.8 mm recorded in autumn 2000.
