Huge amount of water flowing through the village tonight. Stream has burst its banks, I fear for the houses further downstream

Is the reservoir topping out, do they sound warning sirens or have an alert system??

Been torrential here again near Daventry.

Another day with rain. Depressing how much we have had the past few months.

Incredibly wet since the start of June. Very few dry spells.

Yes I managed a rough cut of grass the other week as it was so long but doing any gardening is out of the question. Dog walks in the fields is just a quagmire of mud and drowned grass.

It's been a wet start to October with 92.1 mm here in the first 15 days but I was surprised when I looked back through my records to see that it's the wettest first half of October since 1987, just beating 2000  which had 90.4 mm in the first half. 1987 recorded 102.9 mm in the first half.  The record for the second half is very unlikely to be broken this year as 1998 recorded 197.2 mm

What a lovely morning here with clear sunny spells, with the SE of out region getting the best of the sunshine ...I’m almost emotional

DWWW..

I think your emotional tears have had an effect!!..

We have had a shower which has lasted a couple of hours.

It was a lovely morning, but it changed suddenly about 15:00.

Now at  17:00 back to brilliant blue skies  and with a current temp of 10.8C feels a lot colder and damper then earlier.

Spot on, 15:00 the heavens opened here also ☔

Anyway MIA I’m looking forward to an half decent Winter, whether we get it is the million dollar Q, but I’ll be around model and lamppost watching with the rest of ya

Some nice slider lows, similar to winter 2017/18, with the Midlands being the battleground.

Er.... presumably this is unlikely to happen?!

XC's forecast for Telford: 14cm of snow on Friday!

Probably hills only. Unless we get some very strong evaporative cooling.

It's been a while since I've paid a lot of attention to the weather, thanks to various other things in my life. (Nothing terrible, just busy.) Now I'm back looking at it more closely than for ages... but largely because I'm meeting a friend I haven't seen for ages on Saturday morning (in Worcester) and I would really like the worst of Friday's rain to have cleared by then. This friend is motorcycling up from SE England, too, so gales wouldn't be welcome either!

It's particularly annoying that it looks like some pleasant weather after Saturday is very likely -- cold and crisp would do me fine. I think I'm just the bearer of bad luck, that's all. :P

Well, it was the forecast for my 150m asl postcode, so not that hilly

It's vanished now, replaced by biblical deluges of rain all day Friday...

Surprised the Met Office hasn’t issued a weather warning for the Midlands for heavy rain and strong winds yet?

hoping it will miss here! meant to be just Wales and the NW, we should have a warm sector day Friday 14 degrees or so,

I think the far west/north west will see 1 to 2 inches of rain, particularly Staffordshire and Shropshire. Wales and North West England bearing the brunt though, with 3 to 4 inches of rain there.

Wouldn't be surprised to see an Amber warning for parts of Wales and North West England, and a yellow warning for parts of the Midlands.
