quite a bit of rain today  although seems to be  clearing up now.  Total rainfall for the month currently( according top my weather station) sits at around  80mm of rain  which as you would expect is quite a bit over the August average.  Lets hope September brings better weather.

Although this summer, looking at current model output, is unlikely to be the wettest, or even second wettest on record here ( the record currently held by 2004 with 423.4 mm ) it is the first one since I began keeping records in 1963 when each of the three summer months has recorded more than 100 mm of rain.  9 previous summers have managed two months with more than 100mm over the same period.

This summer won't record the most rain days ( 0.2 mm or more) either. There have been 50 so far compared to 65 in 2012, 64 in 1985 and 62 in 1980.

Beautiful start to the morning although it's now clouded over as forecast. Quite warm

Hopefully the forecast continues to be as accurate, skies becoming clear at lunchtime and staying that way for the foreseeable.

A maximum of 25.2c here today made it the warmest August 24th since 1990 when 25.8c was recorded, and the warmest day in late August since 2005 when the max' was 26.3c on the 31st.  The forecast suggests tomorrow could be even warmer. The record for the 25th is 23.8c in 2000 so that looks very likely to be broken.

A maximum of 28.2c here today made it the hottest August day since 2003 when 29.0c was recorded on the 9th. It was the hottest late August day ( 24th onwards ) since my records began in 1963.

foggy here, wonder when it will lift, but worse tomorrow with rain all day looking at bbc

I'm sure you think you live in a rain forest, BBC for Stafford ain't bad at all tomorrow, maybe a 30% chance of a thundery shower and I bet you don't see a drop.

Yesterday was a funny day. Very hot when I popped out at lunchtime (1pm) - It then clouded over with a few drops of rain early afternoon before going nice again. Cooling down early evening.

One thing I did notice was the darkness at 8.30pm. A very sad sight (I'm a believer in us being on CET)

A fair bit of rain forecast this afternoon , the first major drop since that vile Friday (16th August)
