A max' of 32.1c here this afternoon, the highest on record ( since 1963 ) in July but just short of the all time record of August 3rd 1990. I actually recorded a max' of 31,8c in August 1990 but the instruments were 30 m higher up at that time but had to be moved 6 years ago due to vandalism.

I managed to operate both sites for several years before the final abandonment of the original site and the mean difference in extreme maximum temp'  in July and August was 0.7c so 32.5c would have had to be reached at the current site to equal the overall record. Had it not been for the area of cloud and few spots of rain during what is usually the hottest part of the day I'm fairly sure the record would have fallen.

Horribly hot and muggy and the storms seem to be more Suffolk and Lincolnshire bound.

Cooling down quicker tonight to Tuesday, wind turned veering more west.

Still a few mid level clumpy cumulus about and castle clouds always nice to see.

Hope the colder front arrive a bit smartish.

A little warmer than expected today (26.1 °C) and retaining a little of the humid feel from the heatwave, though very little sunshine to go with it. Not too bad a day, though.

Unlike the weekend! Now looking like being close to a washout in some parts of our region.

last night was absolutely unbearable. My thermometer recorded a low of around 21.5 at 0530 this morning.

Struggled to sleep and sat outside on the deck from 1am - 3am!

What a difference a couple of days makes! Absolutely miserable here in North Worcestershire this morning. The rain isn't all that hard at present, but it's relentless -- and the radar suggests there's a good deal more of it to come. It's chilly, grey and gloomy -- this really could be October, apart from the early sunrise.

Rain, heavy at times, overnight has cleared to the south west in the last hour. The 24 hr total of 33.1 mm makes it the wettest day of the year so far, a remarkable contrast to the second hottest day on record just 3 days ago.

It’s been raining pretty much non stop since last night here. What’s unusual is that looking on the radar, the band of rain just keeps on growing and expanding right over Leicester?

I feel for the punters at the Y Not festival a few miles away. Dry and baking hot in the run up to the festival and almost non stop rain once it starts.
