Given that this system looks to pivot around the Midlands, we could see 40mm+ in places. I don't suspect it will remain as intense as it is now but a good 6-10 hours of rain for many to come.

Severn has really come up today, must have risen 5-6ft since this morning.

We're still getting drizzle left over from yesterday, it hasn't totally stopped since Monday afternoon. Just starting to get the first spots from that big area of rain, which has behaved strangely. It belted across East Anglia into the E Mids, then took several hours to get to Birmingham, 3 hours after getting there hasn't really reached here properly. Looks like we will get the deluge late night/tomorrow morning at this rate. With the wind seemingly backing more N we could get Cheshire Gap showers at some point which can be pretty heavy.

Rains quite heavy here now, has been for a good hour or so. Think it might be this for much of the night now!

Heavier stuff is here, may be in for a while if it keeps on as slow moving as it has been. As well as wondering how much rain we will get, there's the question of when will we next see the sun? Not seen it since early Monday morning, less than 30 hours so far this month.

...and still it rains....

Major problem with the EA Stamp End sluice on the River Witham protecting/draining the Lincoln level, it has been oscillating for days and has gone rogue overnight.

When the tide is out (now), the sluices further down should be dumping water fast  but the Witham is rising dangerously.

Will it ever stop for any length of time? After a couple of dry hours in Mansfield - the first since 11am Monday - we have had another wet afternoon and evening looking likely

Sun has popped out for the first time in 82 hours, good job as I was starting to get delirious and being happy just to see brighter clouds while it was peeing down before. Only in this country can you be at risk of vitamin D deficiency in a month with 17 hours of daylight per day.

There was a tiny bit of blue sky just now across Stoke but it's replaced with a dark cloud again. Unbelievable with these long days too.

And by morning it will be chucking it down again.

Beginning to brighten up now after a night of moderate rain and a further 6.6mms top up.

Hopefully reasonably dry for the day, but a prospect of a thundery spell after midday.

Temperature feeling a bit warmer at 11.3C.

Oh yes and yesterday evening I too saw the sun for 10 mins as it set. Previous sighting was Monday at 09:00.

Beginning to look like a repeat of the summers of 2007 - 8. Also, interestingly, approaching low solar as well.

Made it up to 15.8 °C earlier, the warmest for days. Even had a tiny amount of hazy sunshine! It's all fallen apart now, though. Absolutely hammering down, as hard as anything this week. Completes a truly miserable working week.

A glimpse of a blue sky this evening, after heavy pouring rain this morning. It does at least feel less raw tonight.

Im going to quote a few words from ‘Good Morning Vietnam’ to sum up my thoughts on June 2019.

June 2019 sucks the sweat from a dead man’s balls.

Like a game of cat and mouse as the train continually catches up to and then falls behind the rain band. Really torrential rain in Northampton!

A few sharp heavy showers here this afternoon. Went for a walk this morning and you have to try and dodge all the showers, really frustrating! What an awful June so far!

Actually had full sunshine at times this afternoon, maybe 2 or 3 hours in total, though it rained this morning. Nothing but a few spots coming over the Welsh hills now despite some black clouds, now of all times the storms need to stay the hell away from Lincolnshire. They get enough of them when they are not already under water...
