I see the West Midlands is under Met office yellow warning for rain starting for a M Monday and it is valid on till 12 o’clock Thursday I wonder if this will come off or is it going to be a another Phalia like Fridays thunderstorm warning

It's all likely to be a bit soggy, that's certain!

the problem is that it's the flailing throw-off from the storms centred down on/near Brittany, and as they flail round anti-clockwise they swirl across the lower part of this island and the upper curved part comes across anywhere from the Tyne to the Wash, and it's just not quite clear how and where and when and how much!

I'm wary about the East Coast warnings, though, because I remember how much snow we got in Telford off the East Coast snow warnings - if it's at just the right angle for a Humber streamer, it can get right the way across to us!

Model output ranges from 70 to 150 mm of rain here over the next few days, from an easterly. If only it was January.

Looking at the latest models and radar returns, I'm not expecting anywhere close to 50mm. Looks as though the south east will cop the most.

Today is not the main day for rainfall in the Midlands.

It looks as if the wind has veered to be more northerly than initially forecast, so the bulk of Monday's rain is further south... tonight, and Wedensday currently look like the main days for the Midlands, but it's all a bit unpredictable!

Been expecting some heavy rain here today but we've had hardly anything. Didn't even start raining until half five this afternoon! Now just spitting slightly.

Can't believe how little rain we’ve had today. Looks crazy down south.

The worst of the rain wasn't really forecast for today for Midlands northwards.

It really does feel like Autumn out this morning, Heavy persistent rain and cool blustery N/E winds. Temp 8.2c

The rain began about 5pm on Monday and is still going. Although it's light and patchy now.
If the forecast rings true and we barely get any let up until Friday, will this be record breaking? When was the last time there was pretty much 4 days constant rain in the "summer months" ?

Morning. As someone else said, it feels like Autumn today! Patchy rain here now and think the worst, heavier prolonged rain is just north of us.

That's a 'winter' temp for my location, in fact many times max gets warmer than that, Dec to Feb, but yes autumn for you

Been pouring here all night. 24mm according to my station.

Temperature 9.8

Was wondering "if" this system had moved in during winter months and fallen as snow, how much would we be getting?

the whole setup would be different, much further South, front would be Birmingham southwards, especially just north of M4

Rivers Soar, Nene, great Ouse all gone into red or strong stream advice.....(not navigable). Trent is going up fast.

Indeed can’t really directly translate Summer rainfall totals to snowfall in Winter. Although this event is producing a lot of rainfall in the Winter we wouldn’t have this much moisture due to it being colder.
