any one any ideas how likely the Birmingham area would be affected or are we going to miss out  like the most of this winter

It's so frustrating because every possible event this winter has just led to disappointment. winter 18/19 a winter of potential, false promises and let downs

A Facebook friend posted this photo from Park Hall Country Park. Just 2 miles from my house. I can’t believe how much snow there is such a short distance away!

Well my trusty little Oregon clock has been saying rain for a few hours. I saw mackerel sky earlier, so I guess ppn is likely here. I am placing my bets on clear snow.

Something about the sky though. If not now, then maybe into Feb.

This is not scientific and I will probably be wrong.

Agreed this winter has been hopeless when the models suggest an easterly it changes its mind two days later. As for today's event I think it will be a poor show for most of us midlanders.

Snizzle and spots of rain here for the last hour. So fine you can barely see it.

Surely that has moved in from north east ?

Because it’s not due there until later.

Meant to hit around 6pm in the South. In Yeovil all kids have been sent home. Nothing yet here also

direction of travel indicates an epic fail for most here. Yes it has not yet happened and yes tricky one for the forecasters to get right, but as we live in an increasingly nanny state and risk averse society, these over egged warnings sadly become all too common

MetO regional text forecast for W Mids starts: "Outbreaks of snow, especially across the south of the region, will tend to fragment, but will leave a risk of ice" -- so we'll see. Not really expecting much even here in Worcs now, though the SW of the county might do better I suppose.

The front looks weak and is already fragmenting even for the south

My complaint is not that it wont snow necessarily, but almost certainly to be markedly less than predicted for the midlands.

Agree. Again why has this been so difficult to forecast by the models/professionals??

Another tragic let down. What a joke of a winter this is turning out to be! I try (really hard) not to get frustrated by such things but what gets my goat, is that you can guarantee if it was rain forecast it would have no problem reaching any of us! Don't get me wrong, this morning was amazing, stunning hoar frost with fog, looked and felt as it should do in winter, but to last just one day, give me a break!

Next week looks vile, temps up to around 7 - 8 with rain. What are the chances of the models having that incorrect!

I keep hoping the models are going to flip to a more sustained pattern due to the SSW and down welling, but alas, the wait goes on...

Time to find the funds for some proper winter holidays, if I can't get snow here, I'm going to go where the snow is!
