Yeah that what i am hoping - looks like the snow event on Thursday is moving South bit by bit so  as you said could miss us all together - Im sure the models with move it around run by run - however the trend is not our friend currently

Yh true Icon has it missing the Midlands but both gfs and gfsp have it way further North. ECM and UKMO have a middle ground solution. But hey we will see a few flakes later no matter what. But Thursday is a pin the tail on the donkey at present.

still looking good for North Mids, meto and gfs charts show plenty of snow chances.

3-10 cm midlands more further west - snow almost down to south coast

NW midlands does ok  (quote from SM on )

and  another  from Nick Sussex

An interesting few days coming up ! Putting aside tonights snow and in relation to the next low.

At the moment the nw Midlands , the southern part of the Peak District and northern Wales look to be in a good position for snow . And of course not forgetting our fellow coldies across in parts of Ireland .

So some positives there, Plenty of radar watching today, might even get up onto A615 Newhaven Road, but I am sure I will need a 4x4 for the higher routes.

Bright start with plenty of blue sky and sun breaking through but now skys very milky white looking haha, sure sign of snow on the way.

Hi Guys...

Your own Ice Age is back again, so it must be getting colder.

I missed out on last weeks attempts as I was on holiday. Today looks similar from what I have heard..

Frost overnight (Min -0.7C)… Currently at 1.2C,and cloudy.

We could have a couple of hours of snow today with a small amount of settling after the initial rain..

Thursday looks like an old fashioned 70's style day.

We could be buried, get virtually nothing, or get a couple of hours of heavy snow.

My money is on the first option.:yahoo::cold:

MIA

MetO have us down for heavy snow most of the day. The radar shows lots of rain heading this way though! We are on standby for rushing back to school to collect my eldest though!

We could all get a pleasant surprise today

keep the faith

?? For snow

washout for Stafford, unreal, was meant to arrive 5pm, now looks like 10am, very wet day, perhaps back edge snow though, rain always downgrades, meaning when it's forecast for evening/night, arrives during the day, brought forward

or when it's forecast for say stopping 5am, drags its heels and stops at 2pm

Aye, for low levels though hours of heavy rain before the snow, but places like Buxton, not a drop of rain, heavy snow all day, sigh

Still very much in the air regarding Thursday  Today   its still quite hard to call. The radar does show snow approaching mix with sleet   ill edge my bets and say  snow likely to high levels  maybe a covering somewhere.  However it could be more  radar watching is the best bet

Our work just moved head office, so I got a bit excited thinking... hey maybe this office is at a higher elevation.

I checked and we're at 68 meters Oh well.

I'd certainly be more confident in your area, higher up and further south for thursdays trough

Thurs still up in the air, but further South you are, better your snow chances

That's true lol. Though... it's a sad state of affairs that i'd actually be willing to get stuck at work if it meant witnessing a large snowfall (15cm+)

I am higher than I was down south but only 70m elevation which is useless for snow.

Still, this is a hell of a cold sky this morning!

70m is useless if places around you are higher

town centre Stafford is 81m, useless as Cannock is 140m, Stoke 180m, Telf 165m, kinda why I see cars with lots of snow on

To be fair, I was only 60m in Epsom, (home before my last one), and we only got a good dumping if it was an Easterly as The Downs stopping the NW and W flow. Many a time I can home from the OH, who was in Reigate, with it snowing and laying. Literally turn from Tattenham Corner onto the Downs, and the snow stopped.
