Humongous sized flakes here not long ago, started settling slightly but now melted, what a very pleasant surprise even before Halloween ❄️❄️⛄.

Feeling slightly confident that this is maybe just the start of better things to come further down the line. The last times in recent years we or anywhere else in the country had snowfall to low levels in October were 2008 and 2012. And both those were followed by cold Winters with appreciable snow. By the way check out some of the pictures posted in the north east thread if you want to see some very good photos from this event.

Is this also the closest gap in months terms between snow since we had snow In March?

Also been as the clocks don't go back until tonight, this was I think the first time we've had snowfall in 'British Summer Time' since the end of March 2013.

We had rain. This morning it was so bitter out. Very possibly something wintery mixed In with it.

A mixed bag this weekend. Yesterday was horrible -- I was in Worcester, where there was no snow, just cold rain at around 5 °C. Much worse than was forecast. Didn't help that the trains around Worcester were in a mess so I had to travel there on the world's slowest rail replacement coach -- it took over an hour from Kidderminster! On the flip side, today has been really nice. Chilly, yes (8 °C) but no rain and lots of sunshine. The breeze seemed lighter than was forecast, too. This is the sort of autumn/winter day I can get behind!

Might well get a new low minimum for the autumn here tonight, though it's not the hardest of tasks given that the current mark is -0.9 °C! Tomorrow looks like something of a repeat of today, so I'll make the most of that (and maybe Tuesday too) before the wet and windy stuff comes back late in the week.

A cold and showery day here in Leicestershire, made bleaker by the sad news here today. Not a football fan but in the few short months I have been here I realise how passionate and proud the people of Leicestershire are of LCFC the Foxes.

My thoughts are also with the Leicester City FC.

Over here...

A general frost with a minimum of -1.3C at 6:30, now at -0.2C with signs of mist floating overhead.

Looking like a sunny start, though possibly clouds building.

Haven't seen a frost like this in October since the 90s! Reminds me of those Autumn mornings when I was at school.

Didn't get any precipitation here at all on Saturday, so no way of knowing if it could have snowed or not- but this morning certainly gives a wintry feel.

Yes :cold: a good frost was seen widely here, got down to -1.2c

Scrapping of my car windows was needed this morning for sure.

Beautiful clouds today in Northants with most of the precipitation failing to make the ground level.

Quite happy with that: min of -1.7 °C last night and max of 7.4 °C today with blue skies and crisp sunshine almost the whole way through. The sort of autumn/winter days I really enjoy. :)
