I suppose so, but it’s like winter, even I get fed up with the cold and come March I wish for something warmer, so I guess I’m ready for something colder now and eventually the S word ❄️

Very unpleasant out there for most of our region today, a day for stopping in methinks.

DWW...

Beat me to it! (and it has beaten me up!!)

I have a golf match this pm. How lucky is that!

Been raining steadily since about 6:00 am here.

I have recorded just about 10 mms so far.

The other unexpected event is the drop in temperatures.

It reached 21C yesterday....Today I started at 17C (midnight) it is now dropped from 10.7C (09:00) to a current 9.9C.

Good morning last night on my weather Facebook page I wrote this for Cannock Chase. Good evening, another change tomorrow, dropping very cool. Temperatures today reach 21 c. Tomorrow the temperature will drop through the day to around 10 c by mid afternoon. Looking wet with around 15 mm of total rainfall.

Temperature now is 9.2 c and now recorded 12.2 mm of rain and still raining 2.4mm per hr. Sure we will reach the 15mm I predicted. Graph image from my weather Davis Vantage pro plus 2 and WeatherLink

Be glad to see the back of this. Warmth is nice when combined with sunshine or thunderstorms. Not nice with the endless cloud, rain, high humidity and gusty winds. Like Autumn for the nice colours and dark evenings but the weather is an unpleasant bore.

After running the Great Birmingham Run today, I can confirm it’s very wet and waterlogged everywhere!

Still glad it was today rather than battling with wind gusts yesterday!

MIA mentioned earlier, a little unexpected regarding today’s temperatures, with a 12c degree ⬇️ in some parts, a drop from yesterday’s 21-22c to just 10c this afternoon here, I’ve even had to put my heating on :cold:

The week ahead... After getting tomorrow out of the way ☔️ The rest of the week isn’t too bad at all ⛅ ⛅⛅⛅️14c to 16c.

HI CCW... (everyone gets shortened on here)

As DWW has said a warm welcome from us all.

I like your chart. especially as it seems to agree with my amateurish weather station in the garden.

It is in a sheltered suburban garden (not far from the centre of Solihull) and does seem to record a bit lower temps then many others around here.

Even your timings agree with mine and my values are correct if you take into account the bit of extra altitude you probably have.

Could you put your  height above sea level  into your logo as come the winter we all get a bit excited about such things!

I would be interested if you would post fairly frequently in here.

In return I will look at your website.

Dull and wet here yet again.

Temperature only at 8.5C here at 10:30.

Rainfall is light to moderate with 6.4mms so far.

That makes 32mms in the last 48 hours.

MIA

On the plus side, whenever it rains I have a Nuthatch who is living with a flock of blue tits, who just spends all his day on my feeders.

He is in superb condition this year.

Rain Rain Rain.  And feeling very cold  Autumn is upon us.  Get the clocks changed  then ill be on winter watch.

Weirpig

After a dryish spell that lasted an hour around midday we have had an hour of moderate rainfall again.

Temperature is now rising, but very slowly as it is now 10.2C.

I does look and feel like winter today, so not too far away.!

I'm spending October going back and forth weekly to southern Scotland - seen some cracking dawns out of Wolverhampton Station on the Monday mornings!

But I'm looking forward to being settled back in the Midlands in November and hope for some really classic November days - you know the ones when it's crisp and cold and a hard white frost, but the sun shines and the world feels fresh and exhilarating...

MIA thanks for your reply and interest in what I wrote. I am pleased your weather station is close to what my weather station shows. I will try and add things on this page and get in the habit at looking. I am busy with my weather page and Facebook page and weather forecasts I write for Cannock Chase Radio. I will add my stations height. CCW

Beautiful morning.

The sort of weather I like best with clear skies and no wind.

Widespread ground frost with the minimum at +0.1C. So just missed an air frost this time.

Lots to look forward to this winter. (hopefully)

Yes Matt, looking increasingly like it’ll be our first taste of winter next weekend.

Very tempted to throw some wintry charts on here.....Nah!...Not just yet, far too early.

or is it

The Northerly would probably be worth it if it became an October 2008-style one.

Remember it well, started as rain in the morning with temperatures around 6c then by 2pm, 2c & sleet and at 3pm 0c & heavy snow and we had a good covering, with overnight temps of -3, also if I remember the 850 uppers were only at -4

ATM the potential is there for next weekend ??

Me too! The fact it turned to snow before it got dark made it more impressive.

There also seemed to be a bit of sleet overnight on the 30th of that year, too.

Having a repeat would be fab! And it shows, even in October, sleet or snow isn’t entirely impossible without the magic -5*C 850 hPa temperature line. ❄️
