Calmed down significantly here now. Don't know if we'll get in on any more later this evening, never say never but the small shifts north might end it there for us. It's been an amazing afternoon though.

Plenty of flash flooding in prone areas of Birmingham it seems. Usual spots of Selly Oak, Northfield, Harbourne etc.

Yep I’m not far from those areas and large parts of my garden are under water now after over an hour of hail and torrential rain , and it’s still pouring down.

Strange goings on here in Solihull..

All day the  clouds have been approaching from the SE.

!0 mins ago went calm and the sky turned even darker.

Then suddenly what I would describe as a shelf cloud started to move back to the NE, with high cloudto cloud  lightning and constant rumbles.

Now  -     Torrential rain is falling.

A clear case of back-building if ever I saw one.

Lightning keeps flashing and the deluge is continuing to fall..

MIA.

Distant thunder now.

Yep, just heard something louder so far. Radar shows rain here around 9pm, but looks weaker than what is over Birmingham now.

Getting more active again here now, looks like we're not done yet!

All the streets electricity shut off for a moment a few minutes ago. It's back on now though.

New report from here..

My road is flooded (been here over 40 years and only seen it once before).

It is flooding into several houses just down the road.

Been out pushing stranded motorists back out the flood, and clearing drains, but it seems to be making it worse due to the pressure down below,.

My garden under water.  Again has only happened 3 times before. including 3/8 inch hail.

Just got back to almost continuous lightning and thunder, though it is brightening up now to the south.

Have just recorded 23.1 mms in half an hour.,

Any boats would be appreciated.

The lightning around here has been insane.  It did calm down for a short while but as Gord has said it seems to be kicking off again and to me seems even more fierce.  I've had to rescue my terrified cat from down the road, I had to drive down to pick him up hecwas so scared.  Wouldn't mind but I tried to get him in 3 times before the storm started earlier

Still flashing away to my north east. Much brighter skies have crept up on me on the other side of my house. It's very very slowly pulling away now. It doesn't feel like I'm in the same place when I look out of my living room window then out of my kitchen window out back!

I do love extremes, but not to hear that people’s properties are being flooded
