Wow

Nottingham had just been hit by a full on blizzard. Frustrating that it will probably melt at this stage but crazy snow and winds combining to lead to very low visibility in the city centre!

Doesn't feel as bone perishing outside as the last event, the strong sun is making it feel comfortable outside the wind. We have another heavy shower now but not really settling. Looks nice though!

I'm in Longton, right in the far south of Stoke. Quite large flakes and it's still coming down. Covered all the grass but little on the pavements.

Yeah noticed a few times how around 10miles can make a difference as I'm around 10miles further North from you.

Although going taxi driving in a bit so should imagine tonight could be interesting in the area in general.

Finally some settling thanks to graupel, visibility is quite low at the moment and the wind is strong,

have a feeling this is going to be a non event for us here in the east midlands.  few very light showers earlier but brighter now.  give me the warmth now.  had enough of these piddly snow events this winter.  too little too late.  What annoys me though is we have the cold in this region but not the snow and those further south have the snow but not the cold enough air to let the snow settle.

Anything falling now the sun will just melt it straight after but prolonged snow looks good for tonight.

Yup. It is lasting well in the shade here though.

Why are some writing this off before it has even begun? Really irritates me.

maybe because we've been hyped up too many times before only to be disappointed?

Agreed the amber warnings haven't even come into play yet, a very interesting evening coming up.

I'd forget about settling or long lasting snow to low levels until this evening. Surfaces will be too warm during daylight at this time of year, away from the most shaded spots. Luckily, it's after dark that the heaviest and most persistent showers are expected.

Just to clear up any misconceptions regarding today's forecast ....Showers can frequently be confused for one another or mislabeled.... Snowfall and snow showers indicate that the difference is actually only in the duration of the events but when showers are foretasted it has been known :shok: wait for it!!!......for the sun to come into play from time to time :hi::D

Agreed later tonight the warnings come in to force. Either way good or bad it's been a great winter.

Plenty of 'mini blizzards' and then really bright sunshine in between. -1 is the high but it feels warmer to be honest in the sun.

Aye, the sun is the bit between the showers.  I'm quite enjoying the mini blizzard/bright sunshine mix at the moment.
