Anchorage Bay frozen up even more. I wonder what they do there on the infrequent occasions when when this happens. The US only has one active ice breaker, with a second one often hampered by breakdowns. Anchorage is an important port.

Snow sweeping across the western US again after a Christmas interlude. There has even been bits in Baja and Chihuahua in Mexico but it looks like the east will not catch much this time.

Baltic sea ice looks to be slightly behind average after an early start this year, though the outlook there is a bit colder

There looks to be a bit less snow and a little more sea ice on the US side

Snow in Mexico again. It snows there sometimes but I think that's 4 lots of settled snow already? Whilst not necessarily being higher overall, there seems to be more snow falls on southern mountains this winter (including Atlas in Africa). Could this be something to do with the record cold thermosphere and shallower overall atmosphere, giving a steeper temperature loss gradient with rising altitude (an ignorant layman's question)?

Sea Ice around Canada started off above average but has eased back below now.
