Looks to be around 270m asl, that link above is a good site to visualize the land and see where hollows may be.

Did Braemar drop to -2.5 degrees last night? If so think that is the lowest min so far this season, quite notable for so early on. The Times had it down as the coldest place.

Their 3rd air frost of the season already. More interesting as can be seen was that it came after a max of 24.3°C for a range of 24.5°C within 24 hrs.

We had a ground frost this morning, just outside Pocklington. Don't know what temps got down to but there was a pretty good covering on the surrounding fields.

First ground frost here near Malton too, low of 3.2c. Around 3-4 weeks ahead of normal .

Your nearest station to Pock is Yapham which fell to 2c.

I'm nearer to Yapham than Pock and just lower down so it's possible that we could have dropped a touch lower then.

Could someone post the lowest min of the new season so far, that -2.5 degrees recorded in Braemar in the Times the other day I think was an error... please correct me if not.

Another low min for September - Tackley must in a frost hollow, to think in some winters, many places struggle to achieve a lower mins. I'm always quite surprised at how low mins get get too at this time of year given the right conditions, you'd think they should conversely be much lower in similiar synoptics in depths of winter - but quite often comparatively speaking not the case.

Little chance of air/ground frost the foreseeable though as we import very humid muggy uppers in a tropical maritime airstreams, might be talking about local high min records next week.

Could be quite a topsy turvy September if we then see an anticylonic spell with further likelihood of frost.

Curious to where that Tackley reading has come from. There is an amateur site in Tackley which recorded 1.6°C https://www.themcintyres.dnsalias.net/weather/tables.html while the official UK min was 1.3°C at South Newington about 8.5 miles away

Yes -2°C for England does sound awfully low or the time of year, more what you'd expect in the Arctic.

Frost watch time over the next 2 nights, could be quite a few first grass frosts/ground frosts of the season at least. Looking further ahead, early October could bring first widespread air frosts..

We had 3.8C at dawn but have a lot of leaf cover in our garden so probably slightly colder nearby. Farnborough only made it to 1.6C but there were quite a few spots nearly there around the UK.  Benson actually made it with -0.6C. Many will have woken up to frosty cars and the odd rooftop. Our neighbours' roof turned a little white for the first time this season but did not last two seconds in this lovely sunshine.

North Atlantic temperatures bode well for more early frosts. When is the last time it got this cold?

2.9c this morning with a ground frost, our 2nd so far this month.

Quite a contrast to last year when we had our first ground frost on the 29th October!

Potential for another tonight :)

I counted around 7 stations at 0c this morning across North Yorkshire, with only Settle in the Yorkshire Dales reading an air frost.

Didn’t quite get into minus figures here but my first ice scrape of the season was a pretty substantial one.
