Agreed.

Pepping up a bit more than I thought in the channel to be fair. IOW to West Norfolk eastwards looks to be the cut off line.

Rough location of the cold front using latest observations (temps and humidity), anywhere west of this line is out and east are still in the game, especially so further towards the South and East.

Possible distant rumble heard a few minutes ago although it did coincide with a plane going over. Raining again now too.

Nice deep rumbles of thunder over Portsmouth.. All out at sea tho, couple flashes. Really need it to hit us.

Occasional distant thunder in the channel.

A feeble thundery effort this evening, soon forgotten  I would imagine.

Clearly we don't have all the ingredients in place for anything notable.

Kent Clipper at best, as long as we get rain though I'll be happy

Not even that, it's more of a north sea clipper

Unfortunately, as often is the case, the French have hogged most of the widespread and potent thundery activity this evening and is a blaze on the lightning detectors. Some welcome rain for some gardens in the southeast, but no spark to go with it for many.

Looks like mammatus clouds, often associated with severe thunderstorms. Like the ones across the Channel

Most of the rain isn't hitting the ground and what rain does arrive is sporadic thundery drops... So no welcome rain for many, even in the high risk thunder zone.

We've just had a useful shower with more on the way, according to radar.

An upturn in events on the Sussex coast.

Cells forming in channel in the last half hour a little more electricly active.A decent CG  fork every 4 or five minutes and closish thunder.Decent convective bursts of rain too
