U.S.P.G.A. CH'SHIP FANTASY COMPETITION

Recommended Posts

After "hosting" what I thought, IMO, was a very successful "fantasy" Open Ch'ship, my attention now turns to the U.S.

Bellerive Country Club, St.Loius, Missouri, hosts the last Major of the year, 9th to 12th August. I would like to "host" another "Fantasy" Competition. Format and Rules, will be very similar to The Open and Masters Competitions I hosted, in July and April:

U.S.P.G.A. CHAMPIONSHIP

1.) Select 4 Golfers, from each of the 3 groups, A,B,C,, in the post above ^^^^^. Against each golfer, is their current Bookmaker's "fixed odds" price and their World Region

2.)Out of your 12 selected golfers, nominate the golfer you feel, most likely to win the tournament, your "nap", in other words.

If your nominated golfer (NAP) wins, you will extra bonus points, which will be MINUSED off, your golfers finishing position.

The bonus points will be determined by your golfers, "Fixed Odds" price, as follows:

8/1 to 14/1 (inc) = 2 pts.

16/1 to 25/1 (inc) = 3 pts

28/1 to 50/1 (inc) = 4 pts

60/1 to 70/1 (inc) = 5 pts

80/1 and over = 6 pts.

Other BONUS POINTS on offer, as follows:

Lowest round of the day = 4 pts

World Region winner, over the tournament, as follows: Top European golfer = 3pts, Top U.S. golfer = 4 pts, Top Rest of World golfer = 2 pts.

Every "Eagle" holed = 1 pt.

In all these categories, should your golfer "dead-heat", bonus points will be awarded in full. Again, all these bonus points will be MINUSED off, your golfers finishing position.

At the end of the tournament, your 12 golfers finishing positions, after any bonus points have been MINUSED off, will be added together and divided by 12, to give an average finishing position, for each golfer. The entrant with the lowest average finishing position, shall be deemed the winner.

I shall now post up boxes to enter, your selections into.

U.S.P.G.A. CHAMPIONSHIP

  GROUP A

2)

3)

4(

  GROUP B

1)

2)

3)

4)

REGIONAL CATEGORIES

Nominate the golfer you think will win the following, categories and paste into the boxes, provided, below:

TOP U.S.A. GOLFER:

TOP EUROPEAN GOLFER:

TOP REST OF WORLD GOLFER:

World Region winner, overall in the tournament. Points system, as follows:

Top U.S. golfer = 4 pts, Top European golfer = 3 pts,  Top Rest of World golfer = 2 pts

(This replaces the points system, for Regional Winners, further back, up the thread^^^^)

In all these categories, should your golfer "dead-heat", bonus points will be awarded in full. Again, all these bonus points will be MINUSED off, your golfers finishing position.

One other point to make, all category bonus points awarded, are in respect of the whole field   and not just the "Fantasy" field (Groups A,B,C,), in the Competition. Sorry but it makes it far easier, for me to check, everyone's entry.

Therefore any Golfer, winning any of the categories, not in the "Fantasy" field, NO bonus points will be on offer, for those categories,

I will post up, Bookmaker's Odds, for the above categories, as soon as betting markets, become available.

Regards,

Tom.  :hi:🏌️‍♂️

Have tinkered with the BONUS  POINTS structure and have come up with following. Don't want to award too many BONUS POINTS, as a player's performance, will be reflected in his finishing position, already. Just wanted to add a bit of interest, on a daily basis:

LOWEST ROUND OF THE DAY - MINUS 2 POINTS.

LOWEST WORLD REGION, ROUND OF THE DAY -

EUROPEAN 67 - 0.5 POINTS

REST OF WORLD 67 - 0.5 POINTS

  UNITED STATES 67 - 0.5 POINTS

TOP 5 FINISH

WINNER - MINUS 1 POINT.

2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th - minus 0.5 points

EAGLE HOLED - minus 0.5 points.

HOLE IN ONE - minus 1 point.

Some of these bonus points may seem very small but your golfer's performance, will be reflected, in his finishing position, already.

Would entrants please have their entries posted in this thread by 7 pm, on Weds, 8th August. Thank you.

Regards,

Tom. :hi:🏌️‍♂️

Have entered both ALEXIS's and K/W's selections, into my Competition folder. Just waiting on my son, ANTONNYBR7 and hopefully, SUXER (Rich). I've sent Rich a "sticky note", so hopefully he'll see that and enter.

Jason DAY (R.O.W.)                      25/1       (NAP)

K/W, should DAY win you will receive 3 bonus points, which will be MINUSED off at the end of the tournament.

Just an aside, if I was still working and having a little bet now and again, I'd probably back the following:

TONY FINAU (MY NAP):  Has been playing really well in Majors, this season and worth a little each way. (LADBROKES 40/1)

XANDER SCHAUFFELE: A new name to me this season but I've been really impressed, with what I've seen. Again worth a little each way. (BET 365 55/1)

I know there are bigger prices around but I don't count those smaller, internet firms. Bit of a betting snob :D, really, as I worked for one of the largest Independent companies at the time, SUNDERLAND.

Tom. :hi:🏌️‍♂️

Some cracking "Fantasy" 3 Balls, there!! If I had more time, I would've liked to have incorporated these into the Competition but it would've have been difficult to do, using the format I have.

Have just found out that Louis OOSTHUIZEN has withdrawn, due to a bad back.

This affects K/WEATHER and myself. Think the fairest thing to do is put us both on next available player below, in GROUP C, which is Adam SCOTT. I'll need to include this rule, in my next "Fantasy" Golf Competition.

Also having trouble finding EAGLES, that were holed in the first round. Took a list of them up to about 10 pm, last night but PGA leaderboard, won't let me access first round scores this morning, fully.

Don't think it matters too much, as they were only worth (0.5) points, anyway. They will be reflected in a player's finishing position, as well.

I will go and check one more time, now. If I still can't access EAGLES, that have been holed, I'll have to scrap, that category.

I'll report back soon.

Tom. :hi:🏌️‍♂️

Right, good news. I've found this site, which records each players score, on a hole-by-hole, basis:

http://www.cbssports.com/golf/leaderboard

Unbelievably, I can't see any EAGLES, holed by "FANTASY" players. Don't have Sky but seems to be a hard scoring course!! So, will be able to check for EAGLES, on a daily basis.

I will post up standings of entrants in the Competition, tomorrow morning, after the 2nd round cut, has been made.

Tom.  :hi:🏌️‍♂️

"Gary Woodland set a new lowest 36-hole score at the US PGA Championship to continue leading at Bellerive before a thunderstorm postponed Friday's play.

Half of the 156-man field had not completed their rounds when play was called off at 23:35 BST. They will resume at 13:00 on Saturday.

The third round will begin about 30 minutes after the conclusion of the second round on Saturday, with players going out in groups of three - instead of the traditional two - off the first and 10th tees".

I will post up the "Fantasy" Figure of each golfer, once the second round has been completed and the "cut" total has been decided. Each golfer's "F/F", will have any bonus points accrued so far, MINUSED off, to give their "F/F".

Regards,

Tom. :hi:🏌️‍♂️
