As it says so far how often this season have these values been exceeded thus far in your area?

For me its as follows:

27c = 30

30c = 8

32c = 2

27=8.

30=0

32=0

Going by my original temperature gauge 26c was my highest so nothing out of the ordinary.

Not sure, but we've had possibly about 4 or 5 days 30 c, which is excellent going for Windermere, and still August to go. Last time this happened possibly 2013, but I think we only managed 28 and 29 degree maxes in July, most probably then have to go back to 2006, when we had a handful of days 30 degrees in July.

Number of days 25 degrees and above, the benchmark of a high max for the Lake District most probably the highest since 1995, and again we have August still to go, so may easily beat 1995. May rival 1976 in this respect if we see further very warm weather in August, but touch and go. Either way when we come to write summaries of summer 2018 it will either go down as the warmest since 1976 or 1995, and in terms of sustained dry sunny weather also.

Really? Keswick has had one 30 degree day this year, and two in July 2006.

10 days exceeding 30C on my personal weather station, though I might be a degree or two up on official readings due to my local conditions!!

Days exceeding 27C ... easier to count the ones which haven't since mid June ;)

Stats for London Heathrow:

27c: 26

30c: 14

32c: 3

The above are for June and July. Doesn’t include spells in April and May where we exceeded 27c - that would add another 4/5 days to the 27c stats.

That's why i put season rather than summer..its really a period that 27c and above can be recorded...so mine includes April and May

Ok, yes I haven't kept records and usually Keswick records slightly higher temps than here, so possibly only the one day.  A number of days have reached 27-29 degrees though.

27°C  x 16 days.
30°C  x  3 days. 30.5°C twice and a 30.1°C
32°C x 0 days.

A nice consistent run of warm to hot weather, but nothing exceptional in terms of max temps - Didn't manage to break any records for heat. 30°C is hard to achieve in my neck of the woods, though.

Interesting how you regularly breach 27c but rarely go higher, why is this?

i think it because of the location and mixing of airmasses..usually when the temp gets above 25-27c then uplift and upper airmasses often being of artic origins then things go bang...so often thunderstorms spark off when lower level temp gets close to 27c..which means storms then temper the max temperatures attained..or something like that

Going by the Heathrow records, we've now had 16 days at 30c+ in London, which equals 1995. With the 32c and 31c forecast on Monday and Tuesday we're now certain to beat 1995.

What a summer this has been!
