Who else would love to have a good thunderstorm as much as I do?

Sadly, a good thunderstorm during a summer heatwave is becoming quite a rarity. Around eight times out of ten, when AccuWeather or any other forecasting site predicts thunderstorms it doesn't happen and that bursts my bubble a bit, and as a result I don't hold my hopes up anymore. Nowadays you are lucky to get the one lightning strike, but in reality you usually just get a very brief shower or no weather at all. I am sure there are many other weather enthusiasts that feel this way. ⛈️

I think a widespread thunderstorm is more likely now after all this heat.

London and the southeast look set to take a bartering, and I’m hoping we get a severe storm, just to take the edge off these temps.

Thunderstorms are fun. I love them.

me! I am long over due.

Love the feeling before a storm hits, seeing the grey blue sky hearing the thunder. I'm also a lover of the humid streamy -ness after aswell.

Although night storms are nice, I love seeing the cloud porn more.

Could do with one here. I missed the ones at the end of May being away, so haven't had a thunderstorm here since May 21st!

Don't seem to get so many thunderstorms associated with heatwaves here now, rather shorter plume events. Managed to get through July 2006 without a storm after the 6th. Didn't get any in August 2003. 1995 however brought some storms on July 26th and 31st, and just to the west on August 2nd.

Quite often, it's when more Atlantic weather moves in that the storms come in. Such happened in mid August 2006 and at the end of July 2013.

We had some really good storms at the end of May, but nothing since. Was hoping after the great show we had then that they might be a bit more frequent this year but it's already been about 2 months now. Still time yet for a surprise though I suppose. Apart from one distant rumble there was no thunder here throughout the whole of 2017 though. That was perhaps the first calendar year I've ever noticed a complete lack of them. They used to be fairly common in the 90s though and before that by my understanding. Even in the 00s I'm sure they were more frequent than now. During the 10s though we've probably managed about one a year on average and as I said last year none. Weird eh.
