Tomorrow is no longer looking as hot as it once was. Likely to be similar temps to today.

Nick L you may be right that the UKV model has changed, but the Met Office still haven't backed down on those high temperatures on this evening's video forecast (Just updated now). They are surely basing these temperatures on something..

Funnily enough, the UKV has brought back the 37! It's still on.

Edit: Must be said though, the UKV is on its own.

MO model update at 21z was still well on for 37C

Based on 20 years of weather recording and observing in Norwich, I doubt we will break the UK record or even the July record.  We need a strong-ish SW flow to be the hottest place in the UK, regardless of upper temps (generally!).  Tomorrow the winds look to have too much of an easterly component to them.  I wouldn't be surprised to see 35C tomorrow (which will be the 3rd highest temp ever recorded for Norwich - 1932, 2003 being the top 2) but 36+ seems a little too far.

Hope I'm wrong, will certainly be watching the VP2 tomorrow!!

Highest uppers look to have been pushed further east into the north sea later today now.

Think we're still in for a chance of the hottest July day

I doubt it will reach above 38.5oC but if the sun shines long enough in 1 particular place then it could get close!

If memory serves me correctly it was 34C at 11am on 1st July 2015 (Heathrow I think). A couple of hours after came the cloud before clearing again later in the afternoon, when the record was set.

So, can we stay cloud-free?

I'm at 25.8 here in Reading already. Cloud will build here later and probably suppress the temperatures, but under clear skies we could easily have beaten yesterday's 33.6. Given the high overnight minima, I can see how 37 would be possible further East. All about the cloud I guess...

A slight increase from the beeb overnight but still quite a way off the met office

I think I'd take the Met Office over that BBC forecast. 29 for London would probably imply 27 or 28 out here. I'd expect to beat that by midday unless we get full cloud cover by then.

24.0oC here in St.albans

A low of 19.6oC which is the highest minima I can remember recording and I've had a weather station since about 2003 although I d9nt keep records so can't verify

They're doing their usual infuriating tactic of "this was our initial forecast and we will stick to it".

Even their own model is back into the low 30s!

At  time do you think the minima is during the night? I think some areas might have broken the record but it wont be on the official stations sadly. It was 24oC here at 5:30am. I would have thought it wouldn't have been much cooler than that all night

Dubai Floods: Another Warning Sign for Desert Regions?

The flooding in the Middle East desert city of Dubai earlier in the week followed record-breaking rainfall.
